Narrator: That night, Casey told all the other engines about his contest with Farnsworth. He was going to tell them about Rusty, but Mickey arrived on time.
Mickey Mouse: Tomorrow, you will all have a very busy day. Your jobs will start especially early. So, Casey, why don't you stop puffing around the island while pulling heavy loads, stop taking any silly ideas, become a really useful engine and stop being a silly broken engine?
Casey Jr: Yes, sir.
Narrator: Now Casey had no choice but not to tell his friends about Rusty. Mickey had spoken to him. No broken engines? The next day, Casey had a very busy morning, but despite not feeling happy, he wanted to be with Rusty. Just then, Tootle puffed up.
Tootle: You seem puzzled, Casey? Is something wrong?
Narrator: Casey looked at his best friend. He always told Tootle everything.
Casey Jr: I've found the oldest engine on Fantasyland. His name is Rusty.
Tootle: (excitedly) Bust my buffers! Where?!
Casey Jr: I'll show you later, I promise. (winks at Tootle) He wants us to look after him. Will you help me?
Tootle: Of course, I will, Casey! What can I do?
Casey Jr: Please will you take this farmer machinery to Farmer Ernest's for me?
Tootle: Well, what shall I do with these mail cars?
Casey Jr: (with his eyes both half shut) Leave them somewhere safe. (grins) Somewhere right of the track. Later, you may deliver the mail. Now I'll chuff away to Rusty as quickly as I will.
Narrator: Tootle was excited. He was to help Casey. Tootle had puffed a long way. He was on tracks that he didn't know. He was looking for somewhere to hide his mail cars.
Tootle: I've got to find somewhere of the track to have my mail cars feel safe until I get back. This looks like the perfect place to hide my mail cars. (with his eyes both half shut) No-one shall find them here.
Narrator: Casey huffed happily away to Rusty's hideout. He was so busy thinking about helping Rusty that he didn't see Farnsworth coming up behind him.
Farnsworth: Whit dae ya think yer doin', Casey? You're a long way away from yer branch line.
Casey Jr: (cheekily) I'm on my way to Porthmadog.
Narrator: Casey took off like a jack rabbit away from Farnsworth and the summer house.
Farnsworth: Hmm... This looks very strange. Very strange indeed.
Narrator: Casey didn't chuff away to Rusty until later.
Rusty: You said you weren't coming, Casey.
Casey Jr: I've told you, Rusty, I promise I won't fail you.
Narrator: Then Thomas and Emily opened their tool box and started work. Soon, Rusty's piston rods were in place.
Casey Jr: I'll come back with more parts for you, Rusty.
Rusty: Thank you, Casey. Please don't get yourself into trouble for me. I'm an old engine.
Casey Jr: And I will make you new again. Bye, Rusty.
Narrator: Casey was puffing home as fast as he pistons could pump. He was so late. He had to puff to the summer house.
Farnsworth: Casey! You're up to somethin', ain't ya?
Narrator: Casey couldn't answer, except chuff quickly away, forcing Farnsworth to follow closely behind. Casey was puffing fast. Then he saw Tootle at the water tower. Tootle looked sad.
Tootle: I popped a valve when I was pulling the heavy farm machinery.
Narrator: Casey felt sorry for his friend. Farnsworth had followed Casey and steamed to a stop.
Farnsworth: Dear, oh, dear, Tootle. You should let a stronger engine pull heavy loads.
Narrator: Farnsworth chuffed on.
Casey Jr: I'm sorry, Tootle. You did try to help me, but had broken down.
Tootle: I'm worried, Casey. I still haven't delivered the mail. Mickey is going to be cross with me.
Casey Jr: (worried) Don't worry, Tootle. (smiles) Tomorrow, I'll help you. Now let me take to the Fantasyland steamworks. Doc can have you fixed in no time.
Narrator: All the way to Fantasyland steamworks, the two friends chattered and chuckled about Farnsworth. Fantasyland steamworks was quiet. Doc was very surprised to see Casey puff in with Tootle.
Doc: Flaming fireboxes! What's happened now, my friend?!
Casey Jr: I asked Tootle to pull my special for me, but his valve popped!
Doc: Why didn't you pull it yourself?
Casey Jr: Because, I, uh...
Tootle: Because he... (as a pipe falls lose) Oh!
Narrator: Then Casey saw the old parts. He knew Rusty needed them. He knew he would need to tell Doc about Rusty.
Casey Jr: Doc, can you please help me?
Tootle: We need your help.
Doc: I'll always help you, my friend. What is it that you want?
Narrator: So Casey told Doc about Rusty. Doc was amazed!
Doc: Very good! Looking after another engine is very important. Especially looking after an old engine. Tell Mickey.
Thomas Bandicoot: What?! Oh no! We can't do that yet!
Emily Bandicoot: Yes, Rusty's old and broken! Mickey will be sure to scrap him!
Casey Jr: But if we can make Rusty really useful again, then Mickey won't!
Doc: Okay, I understand. Whatever I put in this corner of the yard you can take.
Narrator: Casey and Tootle were very happy.
Casey Jr: Thank you, Doc.
Doc: Okay, Tootle, your turn to be fixed.
Narrator: That evening, Casey puffed into Oblivion sheds. Mickey was waiting, feeling cross.
Mickey: Casey, did you know that Tootle was pulling your special while not delivering the mail?
Casey Jr: What?! Tootle's mail cars are lost?
Narrator: Casey felt bad.
Casey Jr: Sorry, Mickey. I wonder where Tootle's mail cars are. I'll help find Tootle to find them tomorrow.
Mickey Mouse: That's excatly what you can do tomorrow, boy, by my honour.
Narrator: Well, yes, of course, of course. I'm sure Casey will help Tootle find his mail cars tomorrow. Casey's friends are looking at him. They know something strange is going on.
Toyland Express: Casey, is everything alright?
Narrator: Casey gulped and blinked sadly. He needed his friends help.
Casey Jr: There is something very important I'll tell you.
Narrator: As the stars sparkle above Oblivion, Casey told his friends all about Rusty. The engines had never heard such an amazing story.
