Hooray For Ash

  • Michael Brandon: It was an exciting day on the land of YTV.
  • Superman: Good morning!
  • Michael Brandon: Called Superman. Suzy and Pietra were full of happy children. Ash was taking them to their annual sports day. Everything was ready for the day to begin.
  • Boy: I do hope I'm Number 1 and win a medal.
  • Michael Brandon: Said a boy.
  • Ash: It must be splendid to win a medal.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Ash.
  • Ash: After all I'm trainer Number 1.
  • Michael Brandon: Ash worked hard all afternoon. But he couldn't stop thinking about medals. He imagined himself wearing a gold medal on a bright red ribbon. How smart he would look.
  • Alex: Hello, Ash.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Alex.
  • Alex: I'm taking Steven to sports day.
  • Ash: You can see the egg and spoon race.
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Ash.
  • Alex: I didn't know eggs and spoons had races.
  • Sonic: A children race with eggs on spoon.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sonic.
  • Ash: And the winner gets a medal. I wish I could have a medal.
  • Alex: You need to win a race first.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Alex.
  • Sonic: I'll race you, Ash. The first one to the station is the winner.
  • Ash: You're on!
  • Michael Brandon: Called Ash.
  • Sonic: Ready, steady, go!
  • Ash: Better hurry, Sonic.
  • Michael Brandon: Peeped Ash. Then, Ash had to stop to pick up some passengers.
  • Bertie: Better hurry, Ash.
  • Michael Brandon: Teased Sonic as he rattled over the bridge. Then, Sonic had to stop at the level crossing.
  • Ash: Last one there puffs hot air.
  • Michael Brandon: Called Ash. Ash was nearly at the station. As he drew near the plane field, a signalman flagged him down. Now Ash was really cross. Sonic was sure to win. Then he saw Steven.
  • Steven: Ash, the sports day medals have been left in my office. You must fetch them at once. We can't let the children down.
  • Ash: Of course not, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Ash and he chuffed away. Meanwhile, Sonic had raced into the station.
  • Sonic: I won!
  • Michael Brandon: Shouted Sonic.
  • Sonic: I won!
  • Michael Brandon: And he waited eagerly for Ash. He waited and waited. But Ash had forgotten about the race. He was thinking about the children.
  • Ash: I can't let them down, I can't let them down.
  • Michael Brandon: At last, Ash puffed back into the big station. The stationmaster gave Ash's driver the box of medals. Then, Ash set off again. He arrived just in time.
  • Steven: Well done.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Steven.
  • Ash: Thank you, Sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Panted Ash. Steven presented the medals to the winners.
  • Steven: Congratulations.
  • Children: Thank you sir.
  • Michael Brandon: The next day, Sonic and the medal winner arrived with a surprise for Thomas. A small boy presented him with a gold medal on a red ribbon.
  • Steven: You were very helpful at sports day.
  • Boy: So we thought you should have a medal of your own.
  • Michael Brandon: Added the boy.
  • Ash: My very own medal.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Ash.
  • Ash: Thank you.
  • Children: Three cheers for Ash the Number 1 trainer. Hip, hip, hooray.
  • Sonic: But I still won the race.
  • Michael Brandon: Tooted Sonic. Ash just peeped happily.

Kevin's Brass Band

  • Michael Brandon: Summer is a busy time on the land of YTV. Vacationers have so much to see and do. There are trips to the seaside, balloon rides in the country and the brass band playing in the park. One morning, Kevin was in a hurry. He didn't even stop to say hello to Yoshi. Ash was pleased to see Kevin.
  • Ash: What's up? Your smile's as broad as your smokebox.
  • Kevin: I'm on my way to pick up the brass band.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Kevin.
  • Kevin: The concert is tomorrow night.
  • Ash: Don't crack your smokebox.
  • Michael Brandon: Teased Ash. Kevin couldn't wait to hear the brass band play their wonderful music. He was so excited about meeting the brass band that he didn't notice the giant crane. It was unloading a huge ship's boiler. Suddenly, the crane swung the boiler and knocked Kevin right off the track. Bowser had been watching.
  • Bowser: You useless little characters are always in the way.
  • Michael Brandon: Poor Kevin. Steven came inmediately.
  • Steven: We will take you to the fitters yard and Sonic will have to meet the brass band instead of you.
  • Michael Brandon: Kevin was sad. That night a raging storm rolled in. The fitters worked through the night trying to mend Edward. The rain pelted down. Now Kevin felt sad and very dammed. Morning came and Steven arrived.
  • Kevin: Please sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Pleaded Kevin.
  • Kevin: Will the fitters be finished soon?
  • Steven: Not soon enough and the band can't wait. I'm sorry Kevin, Sonic will take them to the concert.
  • Michael Brandon: Kevin felt worse than ever. Sonic collected the brass band and set off inmediately. He bummed cheerfully along the country roads. But there was trouble ahead. Last night, storm had flooded the road. Sonic's driver decided to take a shortcut. But it was very muddy. Sonic's shoes did not like the mud. They scooted, they skated, they slid, they slipped.
  • Sonic: I'm stuck!
  • Michael Brandon: He groaned.
  • Sonic: (grunts)
  • Michael Brandon: Sonic revved his engine, but his shoes spun round and round. He couldn't budge. The brass band were worried.
  • Leader: We musn't be late for our concert. Tune up your tuba.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried the leader of the band.
  • Leader: We'll call for help.
  • Michael Brandon: By now Kevin was mended and hooked up to his coaches.
  • Kevin's Driver: I can hear music.
  • Michael Brandon: Said his driver.
  • Kevin: That's not music.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheeshed Kevin.
  • Kevin: That's an alarm.
  • Michael Brandon: And they raced off to the rescue. The musicians were delighted to see their old friend, so was Sonic.
  • Kevin: I'll get you to the concert in time!
  • Michael Brandon: Kevin cried.
  • Bandsmen: Thank you.
  • Michael Brandon: Said the worried bandsmen. That night, the concert was a great success. Everyone loved the music, especially Kevin.

Maggie Matsumoto's Stand

  • Michael Brandon: It was a hot summer's day on the land of YTV. The characters were busy taking Beedrill full of slate from the quarry. The heat and dust made their axles ache.
  • Rikochet: We shunted every Beedrill in the quarry today.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheeshed Rikochet.
  • Froggo: But I'm too thirsty to feel useful.
  • Michael Brandon: Complained Froggo. The summer sunshine made people thirsty too. Maggie Matsumoto was keeping very busy at the refreshment stand. The next day, Steven had news for Froggo.
  • Steven: Miss Matsumoto nees a place for another refreshment stand.
  • Froggo: I can find her a beautiful place.
  • Maggie: I knew it. It will be a piece of cake.
  • Froggo: But refreshment stands don't live in cakes.
  • Maggie: It's just my way of saying it would be fun and easy to find the right place here.
  • Michael Brandon: Froggo puffed along to the woodland way and the old castle causeway and the whispering waterfall.
  • Maggie: Thank you, Froggo.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Maggie.
  • Maggie: But I don't know what to do. I can't make up my mind. What a shame I can't build a refreshment stand at each place.
  • Michael Brandon: Froggo was very disappointed. He didn't feel useful. That night, there was a storm. Lightning flashed and thunder crashed. The rain poured down. All the characters were talking excitedly about the storm, except Froggo. He was thinking about the Maggie Matsumoto's stand. The next morning, Steven came to the sheds.
  • Steven: Froggo, I want you to go and help Casey clear the storm damage.
  • Froggo: Yes sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Froggo said and hurried away. At last, he thought he could be really useful. Froggo soon found Casey. The storm had swept the shed onto the line.
  • Casey: Driver says the shed is useless now.
  • Froggo: It's not a shed.
  • Michael Brandon: Exclaimed Froggo.
  • Froggo: It's an old railway coach.
  • Michael Brandon: And that gave him an idea. Back at the yards, his driver spoke to Steven.
  • Froggo's Driver: Froggo thinks this old coach could be a refreshment stand.
  • Steven: Hmm, I'll have Jem take a look. I'm sure he can repair it.
  • Michael Brandon: Agreed Steven. Steven was right. In no time at all, the old coach had turned into a refreshment stand on wheels. Maggie could hardly believe her eyes.
  • Maggie: Oooh, it's beautiful. I told you it would be a piece of cake.
  • Michael Brandon: Steven paused for a moment.
  • Steven: Eh, um, with many cakes in it I'm sure.
  • Michael Brandon: Then he turned to Froggo.
  • Steven: And you shall pull the refreshment stand special.
  • Froggo: I'll be proud to, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Froggo. Now Maggie serves refreshments at all her favorite places. At woodland way, the old castle causeway and whispering waterfall. Froggo is a happy character.
  • Froggo: I told you it would be a piece of cake.

Buster and The Roller Coaster

  • Michael Brandon: Buster is a brave little bunny who enjoys working in the school on the land of YTV. Even though he is little, Buster loves feeling like a really useful bunny. One day, Steven came to see Buster.
  • Steven: I have a very important job to do.
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Buster: An important job!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Buster.
  • Buster: Oh, thank you sir.
  • Steven: You are to take some school children up into the mountains. You must make sure they have a wonderful time and are back in time for their lunch.
  • Buster: Yes, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Buster. But he was worried. He wasn't sure he was good enough to make the trip special. When Buster arrived at the station, the children and the teacher were waiting on the platform.
  • Buster: How am I going to make the children's day really special?
  • Michael Brandon: He said to Casey.
  • Casey: You know the mountains better than any character.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Casey. But Buster wasn't sure his best will be exciting enough. He felt like a very little bunny indeed. Steven had told Buster's driver to point out all the beautiful sights along the way.
  • Buster's Driver: This is YTV Castle.
  • Michael Brandon: Called his driver.
  • Buster's Driver: It is very special and important.
  • Michael Brandon: Buster saw the castle everyday. He didn't think it was special or important.
  • Buster: I must think of something exciting to do.
  • Michael Brandon: He thought to himself.
  • Buster's Driver: This is the valley view.
  • Michael Brandon: Said his driver.
  • Buster's Driver: And here's the viaduct.
  • Children: (gasp)
  • Michael Brandon: Buster was still unhappy. The trip didn't seem wonderful to him at all.
  • Buster: Must be special! Must be special.
  • Michael Brandon: He thought. Meanwhile, Casey was working on the rocky ridge line. Heavy rains have washed the ground from under the road.
  • Foreman: These lines are too bumpy and uneven.
  • Michael Brandon: Said the foreman.
  • Foreman: The track must be closed for repairs.
  • Buster: Must be special. Must be special.
  • Michael Brandon: Buster was still trying to think of something that will make the children's trip special. He didn't know the linesmen have forgotten to switch the points. Suddenly, Buster was on the wrong track.
  • Buster: Oh no! This track is closed for repairs. Bust my buffers!
  • Michael Brandon: Chuffed Buster.
  • Casey: Be careful!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Casey.
  • Casey: The tracks are very bumpy!
  • Michael Brandon: Buster wooshed down the mountain like a roller coaster. The children cheered. Buster puffed up the rocky ridge with all his might. His coach clattered and bumped and bounced along behind. And the children oooed and aaaed. Buster huffed and puffed as hard as he could. He steamed across the trestle bridge. He was going so fast the teacher nearly lost her hat. Buster splashed under a waterfall, the children laughed happily and the teacher covered her eyes. At last, they could see the station. Buster was very tired and worried.
  • Buster: What will Steven say?
  • Teacher: Phew!
  • Michael Brandon: Said the teacher.
  • Teacher: Just in time for lunch.
  • Children: It was the best school trip ever!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried the children. Steven wasn't cross with Buster, he was happy too.
  • Steven: You gave the children a wonderful trip. You really are a very useful bunny.
  • Buster: Oh, thank you sir!
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Buster proudly. Buster didn't feel like a little bunny anymore.
  • (Children cheer)

The Grand Opening

  • Michael Brandon: The characters on the Cartoon Campgrounds were excited. They were helping to build a new line. It would take to even more beautiful places on the land of YTV. Steven arrived with important news.
  • Steven: The grand opening is this afternoon. I want to see the new line from the air. Wilhelmina and I will arrive on Superman.
  • Michael Brandon: Just then, Rikochet chugged in.
  • Steven: You're late for the announcement.
  • Michael Brandon: Complained Steven.
  • Steven: Really useful characters are never late.
  • Rikochet: I'm sorry, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: At the airfield there was another problem.
  • Superman's Pilot: Engine trouble.
  • Michael Brandon: Said the pilot.
  • Superman's Pilot: Superman's not going anywhere today.
  • Michael Brandon: Wilhelmina was most upset.
  • Wilhelmina: But I've been looking forward to the grand opening all week.
  • Steven: And I, my dear, will find a solution.
  • Michael Brandon: And he did.
  • Wilhelmina: Steven, you cannot be serious. Me ride in this.
  • Steven: The wind direction is perfect. We'll be there in no time.
  • Michael Brandon: Soon the hot air balloon rose into the sky. But Rikochet was upset.
  • Rikochet: All this extra work is going to make me late again.
  • Michael Brandon: The hot air balloon was floating peacefully through the sky. Wilhelmina was enjoying herself.
  • Wilhelmina: The new line looks splendid.
  • Michael Brandon: She said.
  • Steven: Thank you, my dear.
  • Michael Brandon: Replied Steven. Down the track, the workmen were still loading their ladders.
  • Rikochet: Hurry up, hurry up!
  • Michael Brandon: Rikochet puffed.
  • Steven: If Rikochet doesn't hurry.
  • Michael Brandon: Sighed Steven.
  • Steven: He'll be late again.
  • Michael Brandon: All the characters were ready for the grand opening.
  • Casey: Where's Rikochet?
  • Michael Brandon: Casey asked.
  • Froggo: He promised to be on time.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Froggo. At last, Rikochet was on his way. Then there was trouble. The balloon's flame suddenly went out, the air in the balloon cooled and the balloon started to fall.
  • Pilot: Hold tight.
  • Michael Brandon: The pilot called.
  • Wilhelmina: I want to get out!
  • Michael Brandon: Demanded Wilhelmina.
  • Steven: Not now, dear.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Steven.
  • Rikochet: The balloon's going to land in the tree.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Rikochet. And it came down right in front of Rikochet.
  • Rikochet: There's Steven!
  • Wilhelmina: My dress is ruined!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Wilhelmina.
  • Steven: So is my lab coat.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Steven.
  • Rikochet's Driver: Don't worry.
  • Michael Brandon: Called Rikochet's driver.
  • Rikochet's Driver: We'll soon have you down.
  • Steven: Am I glad to see you, Rikochet.
  • Rikochet: Thank you, Sir.
  • Michael Brandon: Before long, Steven and Wilhelmina were safely on the ground. They boarded Rikochet's boxcar and set off at once. Everyone was waiting as Rikochet brought his important passengers to the grand opening. Steven declared the new line open.
  • Steven: With special thanks to Rikochet.
  • Michael Brandon: He said.
  • Steven: For helping us get here.
  • Michael Brandon: Everyone cheered.
  • Casey: Even so you were still late.
  • Michael Brandon: Teased Casey.
  • Rikochet: I know.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Rikochet.
  • Rikochet: But because I was late, Steven was right on time.

Best Dressed Character

  • Michael Brandon: It was mayday on the land of YTV and the characters were celebrating. They knew they'd be music and lots of fun. The station was being decorated. Steven said that the characters could be decorated too.
  • Alex: I'm going to have flags and streamers.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Alex.
  • Ash: I'm going to have a big red banner.
  • Michael Brandon: Whistled Ash.
  • Jay: What decorations will you have, Terry?
  • Michael Brandon: Asked Jay.
  • Terry: Decorations aren't dignified for an important character like me. I pull the express.
  • Michael Brandon: Terry was feeling insulted.
  • Terry: (chuckles) Silly little characters.
  • Michael Brandon: He grunted. Ash was enjoying himself. He was bringing the maypole. The farmer's children waved. Ash peeped happily as he passed by. Soon, it was time for the decorated. Alex's driver was wrapping streamers and flags around his head, Ash had a big red banner on his tanks, even Jay was being decorated. Although he was very shy about it.
  • Raimundo: We can have a contest for the best dressed character.
  • Michael Brandon: Suggested Raimundo. Just then, Terry shunted in.
  • Terry: A contest?
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed.
  • Terry: I'm bound to win any contests.
  • Raimundo: You will have to be decorated.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Raimundo.
  • Raimundo: This is a best dressed character contest.
  • Terry: Not me.
  • Michael Brandon: Puffed Terry.
  • Terry: You never catch me looking so ridiculous.
  • Michael Brandon: The characters felt splendid. But not Terry. He was cross.
  • Terry: Decorations aren't dignified. Huh! Who cares about a contest anyway?
  • Michael Brandon: Further down his line a colorful banner was strong across the bridge. Then, as Terry steamed across the bridge, it came loose and wrapped around his firebox. Terry couldn't see the line ahead. Terry tried to whoosh the banner off but it wouldn't budge.
  • Terry: I can't see!
  • Michael Brandon: He whistled loudly to his driver.
  • Terry: Stop!
  • Terry's Driver: You can't stop, Terry.
  • Michael Brandon: His driver called back.
  • Terry's Driver: You're the express.
  • Michael Brandon: Heathcliff was chugging slowly along with his load of apples for the children's apple bob. Heathcliff heard a whistle. He was going as fast as he could, but it wasn't fast enough. The apples were all smashed. Raimundo was the last character to join the contest, or so he thought.
  • Passengers: Here comes Terry.
  • Michael Brandon: Cried the passengers.
  • Ash: We didn't think you wanted to be decorated.
  • Michael Brandon: Teased Ash.
  • Terry: I didn't.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed Terry.
  • Raimundo: Well you're definitely the best dressed characters.
  • Michael Brandon: Teased Raimundo. All the characters agreed. Terry was secretly pleased, but he didn't think it was dignified to say so. Silly Terry.

  • Children: (singing) There's so much to see on the land of YTV, Waterfalls and windmills, valleys of green. All this and more on the land of YTV, Colourful carpet for all to see.
