Hooray for Spike

Narrator: "It was an exciting day in Ponyville."

Owlowiscious: "Good morning!"

Narrator: "Called Owlowiscious.

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle were with happy children. Spike was taking them to their annual Sports Day. Everything was ready for the day to begin."

Boy: "I do hope I'm number one and win a medal."

Narrator: "Said a boy."

Spike: "It must be splendid to win a medal."

Narrator: "Chuffed Spike."

Spike: "After all, I'm dragon number one."

Narrator: "Spike worked hard all afternoon. But he couldn't stop thinking about medals. He imagined himself wearing a gold medal on a bright red ribbon. How smart he would look!"

Pipsqueak: "Hello, Spike."

Narrator: "Whistled Pipsqueak."

Pipsqueak: "I'm taking Hoity Toity to Sports Day."

Spike: "You can see the egg-and-spoon race."

Narrator: "Chuffed Spike."

Pipsqueak: "I didn't know eggs and spoons had races."

Angel: "The children race with eggs on spoons."

Narrator: "Said Angel."

Spike: "And the winner gets a medal. I wish I could have a medal."

Pipsqueak: "You need to win a race first!"

Narrator: "Whistled Pipsqueak."

Angel: "I'll race you, Spike. The first one to the station is the winner!"

Spike: "You're on."

Narrator: "Called Spike."

Spike: "Ready, steady, go!"

(Angel gets stuck behind Gummy pulling a cart)

Spike: "Better hurry, Angel!"

Narrator: "Peeped Spike.

Then Spike had to stop to pick up some passengers."

Angel: "Better hurry, Spike!"

Narrator: "Teased Angel as he rattled over the bridge.

Then Angel had to stop at a level crossing."

Spike: "Last one there puffs hot air!"

Narrator: "Called Spike.

Spike was nearly at the station. As he drew near the playing field, a signalman flagged him down. Now Spike was really cross. Angel was sure to win. Then he saw Hoity Toity."

Hoity Toity: "Spike, the Sports Day medals have been left in my office. You must fetch them at once. We can't let the children down."

Spike: "Of course not, sir."

Narrator: "Replied Spike. And he chuffed away.

Meanwhile, Angel had raced into the station."

Angel: "I won!"

Narrator: "Shouted Angel."

Angel: "I won!"

Narrator: "And he waited eagerly for Spike. He waited and waited.

But Spike had forgotten about the race. He was thinking about the children."

Spike: "I can't let them down! I can't let them down!"

Narrator: "At last, Spike puffed back into the big station. The stationmaster gave Spike's driver the box of medals. Then Spike set off again.

He arrived just in time!"

Hoity Toity: "Well done!"

Narrator: "Said Hoity Toity."

Spike: "Thank you, sir."

Narrator: "Panted Spike.

Hoity Toity present the medals to the winners."

Hoity Toity: "Congratulations!"

Boy: "Thank you, sir!"

Narrator: "The next day, Angel and the medal winner arrived with a surprise for Spike.

A small boy presented him with a gold medal on a red ribbon."

Hoity Toity: "You were very helpful at Sports Day."

Boy: "So we thought you should have a medal of your own."

Narrator: "Added the boy."

Spike: "My very own medal!"

Narrator: "Said Spike."

Spike: "Thank you!"

Children: "Three cheers for Spike, the Number One Dragon! Hip, hip, hooray!"

Angel: "But I still won the race."

Narrator: "Tooted Angel. Spike just peeped happily."

Shining Armor's Brass Band

Narrator: "Summer is a busy time in Ponyville. Vacationers have so much to see and do. There are trips to the seaside, balloon rides in the country and the brass band playing in the park.

One morning, Shining Armor was in a hurry. He didn't even stop to say hello to Noteworthy.

Spike was pleased to see Shining Armor."

Spike: "What's up? Your smile's as broad as your horn."

Shining Armor: "I'm on my way to pick up the brass band."

Narrator: "Replied Shining Armor."

Shining Armor: "The concert is tomorrow night."

Spike: "Don't crack your horn."

Narrator: "Teased Spike.

Shining Armor couldn't wait to hear the brass band play their wonderful music.

He was so excited about meeting the brass band that he didn't notice the giant crane. It was unloading a huge ship's boiler.

Suddenly, the crane swung the boiler and knocked Shining Armor right off the path.

Gustave had been watching."

Gustave Le Grand: "You useless little ponies are always in the way."

Narrator: "Poor Shining Armor.

Hoity Toity came immediately."

Hoity Toity: "We will take you to the fitters yard, and Angel will have to meet the brass band instead of you."

Narrator: "Shining Armor was sad.

That night a raging storm rolled in. The fitters worked through the night trying to mend Shining Armor. The rain pelted down. Now Shining Armor felt sad and very damped.

Morning came, and Hoity Toity arrived."

Shining Armor: "Please, sir."

Narrator: "Pleaded Shining Armor."

Shining Armor: "Will the fitters be finished soon?"

Hoity Toity: "Not soon enough, and the band can't wait. I'm sorry Shining Armor, Angel will take them to the concert."

Narrator: "Shining Armor felt worse than ever.

Angel collected the brass band and set off immediately.

He bumped cheerfully along the country roads. But there was trouble ahead. Last night's storm had flooded the road. Angel's driver decided to take a shortcut.

But it was very muddy. Angel's feet did not like the mud. They scooted, they skated, they slid, they slipped."

Angel: "I'm stuck!"

Narrator: "He groaned.

Angel shook his body, but his feet spun round and round. He couldn't budge. The brass band were worried."

Leader: "We mustn't be late for our concert. Tune up your tuba."

Narrator: "Cried the leader of the band."

Leader: "We'll call for help."

Narrator: "By now, Shining Armor was mended and hooked up to his buffaloes."

Shining Armor's Driver: "I can hear music."

Narrator: "Said his driver."

Shining Armor: "That's not music."

Narrator: "Wheeshed Shining Armor."

Shining Armor: "That's an alarm!"

Narrator: "And they raced off to the rescue.

The musicians were delighted to see their old friend, so was Angel."

Shining Armor: "I'll get you to the concert in time!"

Narrator: "Shining Armor cried."

Bandsmen: "Thank you."

Narrator: "Said the worried bandsmen.

That night, the concert was a great success. Everyone loved the music, especially Shining Armor."

Cherry Jubilee's Stand

Narrator: "It was a hot summer's day Ponyville. The toys were busy taking mutant toys full of slate from the quarry. The heat and dust made their feet ache."

Woody: "We've arranged every changeling in the quarry today."

Narrator: "Wheeshed Woody."

Rex: "But I'm too thirsty to feel useful."

Narrator: "Complained Rex.

The summer sunshine made people thirsty too. Cheery Jubilee was keeping very busy at the refreshment stand.

The next day, Hoity Toity had news for Rex."

Hoity Toity: ""Cherry Jubilee needs a place for another refreshment stand."

Rex: "I can find her a beautiful place."

Cherry Jubilee: "I knew it. It will be a piece of cake."

Rex: "But refreshment stands don't live in cakes."

Cherry Jubilee: "It's just my way of saying it will be fun and easy to find the right place here."

Narrator: "Rex puffed along to the woodland way, and the old castle causeway, and the whispering waterfall."

Cherry Jubilee: "Thank you, Rex."

Narrator: "Said Cherry Jubilee."

Cherry Jubilee: "But I don't know what to do. I can't make up my mind. What a shame I can't build a refreshment stand at each place."

Narrator: "Rex was very disappointed. He didn't feel useful.

That night, there was a storm. Lightning flashed and thunder crashed. The rain poured down. All the toys were talking excitedly about the storm, except Rex. He was thinking about Cherry Jubilee's stand.

The next morning, Hoity Toity came to the house."

Hoity Toity: "Rex, I want you to go and help Slinky clear the storm damage."

Rex: "Yes, sir."

Narrator: "Rex said and hurried away. At last, he thought, he could be really useful.

Rex soon found Slinky. The storm had swept the shed onto the line."

Slinky: "Driver says the shed is useless now."

Rex: "It's not a shed."

Narrator: "Exclaimed Rex."

Rex: "It's an old trailer."

Narrator: "And that gave him an idea.

Back at the yards, his driver spoke to Hoity Toity."

Rex's Driver: "Rex thinks this old trailer could be a refreshment stand."

Hoity Toity: "Hmm, I'll have Jem take a look. I'm sure he can repair it."

Narrator: "Agreed Hoity Toity.

Hoity Toity was right. In no time at all, the old trailer had turned into a refreshment stand on wheels.

Cherry Jubilee could hardly believe her eyes."

Cherry Jubilee: "Oooh, it's beautiful! I told you it would be a piece of cake."

Narrator: "Hoity Toity paused for a moment."

Hoity Toity: "Eh, um, with many cakes in it, I'm sure."

Narrator: "Then he turned to Rex."

Hoity Toity: "And you shall pull the refreshment stand special."

Rex: "I'll be proud to, sir."

Narrator: "Replied Rex.

Now, Cherry Jubilee serves refreshments at all her favorite places. At woodland way, the old castle causeway and whispering waterfall.

Rex is a happy toy dinosaur."

Rex: "I told you it would be a piece of cake."

Buzz Lightyear and the Roller Coaster

Narrator: "Buzz Lightyear is a brave little toy who enjoys working in the mountains in Ponyville. Even though he is little, Buzz loves feeling like a really useful toy.

One day, Hoity Toity came to see Buzz."

Hoity Toity: "I have a very important job for you."

Narrator: "He boomed."

Buzz Lightyear: "An important job?"

Narrator: "Cried Buzz."

Buzz Lightyear: "Oh, thank you, sir!"

Hoity Toity: "You are to take some school children up into the mountains. You must make sure they have a wonderful time, and are back in time for their lunch."

Buzz Lightyear: "Yes, sir."

Narrator: "Said Buzz. But he was worried. He wasn't sure he was good enough to make the trip special.

When Buzz Lightyear arrived at the station, the children and the teacher were waiting on the platform."

Buzz Lightyear: "How am I going to make the children's day really special?"

Narrator: "He said to Slinky."

Slinky: "You know the mountains better than any toy."

Narrator: "Said Slinky. But Buzz wasn't sure his best will be exciting enough. He felt like a very little toy indeed.

Hoity Toity had told Buzz's driver to point out all the beautiful sights along the way."

Buzz Lightyear's Driver: "This is Ponyville Castle."

Narrator: "Called his driver."

Buzz Lightyear's Driver: "It is very special and important."

Narrator: "Buzz saw the castle everyday. He didn't think it was special or important."

Buzz Lightyear: "I must think of something exciting to do."

Narrator: "He thought to himself."

Buzz Lightyear's Driver: "This is the valley view."

Narrator: "Said his driver."

Buzz Lightyear's Driver: "And here's the viaduct."

  • Children: "Oooh!"

Narrator: "Buzz Lightyear was still unhappy. The trip didn't seem wonderful to him at all."

Buzz Lightyear: "Must be special! Must be special!"

Narrator: "He thought.

Meanwhile, Slinky was working on the rocky ridge line. Heavy rains had washed the ground from under the road."

Foreman: "These lines are too bumpy and uneven."

Narrator: "Said the foreman."

Foreman: "The path must be closed for repairs."

Buzz Lightyear: "Must be special! Must be special!"

Narrator: "Buzz was still trying to think of something that would make the children's trip special.

He didn't know the linesmen have forgotten to switch the points.

Suddenly, Buzz was on the wrong path."

Buzz Lightyear: "Oh no! This path is closed for repairs. Bust my arms!"

Narrator: "Chuffed Buzz."

Slinky: "Be careful!"

Narrator: "Cried Slinky."

Slinky: "The path is very bumpy!"

Narrator: "Buzz Lightyear wooshed down the mountain like a roller coaster. The children cheered.

Buzz puffed up the rocky ridge with all his might. His filly clattered and bumped and bounced along behind. And the children ooohed and aaahed. Buzz huffed and puffed as hard as he could.

He raced across the trestle bridge. He was going so fast, the teacher nearly lost her hat.

Buzz splashed under a waterfall, the children laughed happily.

Children: Oooh!

Narrator: "The teacher covered her eyes.

At last, they could see the station. Buzz Lightyear was very tired and worried. What would Hoity Toity say?"

Teacher: "Phew!"

Narrator: "Said the teacher."

Teacher: "Just in time for lunch."

Children: "It was the best school trip ever!"

Narrator: "Cried the children. Hoity Toity wasn't cross with Buzz. He was happy too."

Hoity Toity: "You gave the children a wonderful trip. You really are a very useful toy."

Buzz Lightyear: "Oh, thank you, sir!"

Narrator: "Sighed Buzz proudly. Buzz Lightyear didn't feel like a little toy anymore."

The Grand Opening

Narrator: "The toys on the Mountain Path were excited. They were helping to build a new road.

It would take visitors to even more beautiful places in Ponyville.

Hoity Toity arrived with important news."

Hoity Toity: "The grand opening is this afternoon. I want to see the new line from the air. Princess Celestia and I will arrive on Owlowiscious the Owl."

Narrator: "Just then, Woody chugged in."

Hoity Toity: "You're late for the announcement."

Narrator: "Complained Hoity Toity."

Hoity Toity: "Really useful toys are never late."

Woody: "I'm sorry, sir."

Narrator: "At Owlowiscious' tree, there was another problem."

Owlowiscious' Pilot: "Wing trouble."

Narrator: "Said the pilot."

Owlowiscious: "Owlowiscious' not going anywhere today."

Narrator: "Princess Celestia was most upset."

Princess Celestia: "But I've been looking forward to the grand opening all week!"

Hoity Toity: "And I, my dear, will find a solution."

Narrator: "And he did."

Princess Celestia: "Hoity Toity, you cannot be serious. WE ride in this?"

Hoity Toity: "The wind direction is perfect. We'll be there in no time."

Narrator: "Soon the hot air balloon rose into the sky.

But Woody was upset."

Woody: "All this extra work is going to make me late again!"

Narrator: "The hot air balloon was floating peacefully though the sky.

Princess Celestia was enjoying herself."

Princess Celestia: "The new road looks splendid."

Narrator: "She said."

Hoity Toity: "Thank you, my dear."

Narrator: "Replied Hoity Toity.

Down the road, the workmen were still loading their ladders."

Woody: "Hurry up, hurry up!"

Narrator: "Woody puffed."

Hoity Toity: "If Woody doesn't hurry,

Narrator: "Sighed Hoity Toity."

Hoity Toity: "He'll be late again!"

Narrator: "All the toys were ready for the grand opening."

Slinky: "Where's Woody?"

Narrator: "Slinky asked."

Rex: "He promised to be on time."

Narrator: "Said Rex.

At last, Woody was on his way.

Then, there was trouble. The balloon's flame suddenly went out. The air in the balloon cooled, and the balloon started to fall."

Balloon Pilot: "Hold tight."

Narrator: "The pilot called."

Princess Celestia: "I want to get out!"

Narrator: "Demanded Princess Celestia."

Hoity Toity: "Not now, dear."

Narrator: "Said Hoity Toity."

Woody: "The balloon's going to land in the tree!"

Narrator: "Cried Woody."

Narrator: "And it came down, right in front of Woody."

Woody: "There's Hoity Toity!"

Princess Celestia: "My crown is ruined!"

Narrator: "Cried Princess Celestia."

Hoity Toity: "So is my hair."

Narrator: "Said Hoity Toity."

Woody's Driver: "Don't worry!"

Narrator: "Called Woody's driver."

Woody's Driver: "We'll soon have you down."

Hoity Toity: "Am I glad to see you, Woody."

Woody: "Thank you, sir."

Narrator: "Before long, Hoity Toity and Princess Celestia were safely on the ground. They followed Woody and set off at once.

Everyone was waiting as Woody brought his important passengers to the grand opening.

Hoity Toity declared the new road open."

Hoity Toity: "With special thanks to Woody."

Narrator: "He said."

Hoity Toity: "For helping us get here."

Narrator: "Everyone cheered."

Slinky: "Even so, you were still late."

Narrator: "Teased Slinky."

Woody: "I know."

Narrator: "Said Woody."

Woody: "But because I was late, Hoity Toity was right on time!"

Best Dressed Animal

Narrator: "It was May Day in Ponyville and the animals were celebrating. They knew there'd be music and lots of fun.

The station was being decorated. Hoity Toity said that the animals could be decorated too."

Pipsqueak: "I'm going to have flags and streamers!"

Narrator: "Whistled Pipsqueak."

Spike: "I'm going to have a big red banner."

Narrator: "Whistled Spike."

Chief Thunderhooves: "What decorations will you have, Big Macintosh?"

Narrator: "Asked Chief Thunderhooves."

Big Macintosh: "Decorations aren't dignified for an important stallion like me. I pull the express!"

Narrator: "Big Mac was feeling insulted."

Big Macintosh: "Humpf!

Silly little animals!"

Narrator: "He grunted.

Spike was enjoying himself. He was bringing the maypole. The farmer's children waved. Spike peeped happily as he passed by.

Soon, it was time for the decorating. Pipsqueak's driver was wrapping streamers and flags around his body. Spike had a big red banner on his chest. Even Chief Thunderhooves was being decorated. Although he was very shy about it."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "We could have a contest for the Best Dressed Animal."

Narrator: "Suggested Cranky. Just then, Big Mac shunted in."

Big Macintosh: "A contest!"

Narrator: "He puffed."

Big Macintosh: "I'm bound to win any contest."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "You will have to be decorated."

Narrator: "Said Cranky."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "This is a Best Dressed Animal contest."

Big Macintosh: "Not me!"

Narrator: "Puffed Big Mac."

Big Macintosh: "You'd never catch me looking so ridiculous!"

Narrator: "The animals felt splendid.

But not Big Macintosh. He was cross."

Big Macintosh: "Decorations aren't dignified. Hah! Who cares about a contest anyway?"

Narrator: "Further down his path, a colorful banner was strung about the bridge.

Then, as Big Mac steamed across the bridge, it came loose and wrapped around his body. Big Mac couldn't see the path ahead!

Big Mac tried to shake the banner off, but it wouldn't budge."

Big Macintosh: "I can't see!"

Narrator: "He whistled loudly to his driver."

Big Macintosh: "Stop!"

Big Macintosh's Driver: "You can't stop, Big Mac."

Narrator: "His driver called back."

Big Macintosh's Driver: "You're the express."

Narrator: "Gummy was chugging slowly along with his load of apples for the children's apple bob.

Gummy heard a whistle. He was going as fast as he could. But it wasn't fast enough."

(Big Macintosh crashes through Gummy's cart)

Narrator: "The apples were all smashed.

Cranky was the last animal to join the contest, or so he thought."

Passengers: "Here comes, Big Macintosh!"

Narrator: "Cried the passengers."

Spike: "We didn't think you wanted to be decorated."

Narrator: "Teased Spike."

Big Macintosh: "I didn't!"

Narrator: "Huffed Big Mac."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "Well, you're definitely the Best Dressed Animal."

Narrator: "Said Cranky. All the animals agreed. Big Mac was secretly pleased. But he didn't think it was dignified to say so. Silly Big Mac!"

The Red Balloon

There's so much to see in the Land of Equestria
Waterfalls and windmills, valleys of green
All this and more in the Land of Equestria
Colourful carpet for all to see
People happily ride round the land
Flying so high in a big red balloon
From mountains high and down to the seaside
Everyone wishing they'll all come back soon
High in the red balloon
Up above looking down on everyone
You can touch the moon
High in the red balloon
Floating and spinning and climbing and rising
Way up high, look see the red balloon
Float over castles and church spires below them
Cricket being played on the quaint village green
Everyone waves at the big red balloon
Prettiest picture they've ever seen
Cranky sees the red balloon
Floating high, wishing he could be like him
High in the sky
He waits where the river bends
Waiting to see his friend, hoping he will come again
Wishing and hoping and waiting and dreaming of flying high
Just Cranky and the red balloon
Cranky and the red balloon
