Ireland (or Eire) was a nation-state on Earth, comprising of the island of Ireland. Great Britain first invaded the island in the 12th century, and held dominion over it for centuries, often marked by rebellion. In 1922, the island was divided, creating the Irish Free State, and Northern Ireland, which remained part of the United Kingdom. Decades of strife and terrorist activity followed, with the goal of bring about a united Ireland. Reunification finally came about in 2024.
