The Truth of Luke, known as James & The Mystery of the Green Engine in US releases is a fan-fiction Thomas & Friends episode from Season 4. It first aired in June 1, 1995.

While pulling coaches to the station, James discovers an damaged little green Narrow gauge engine on the bottom of the mountains. His name is Luke. Luke tells James that he accidentally got pushed off the tracks by an crane's hook, and James decides to find the truth, and Diesel thinks Luke would be scrapped due to the accident. Meanwhile, James finds that Colin is the crane and he has told him that it was an accident, not on purpose, and that Luke would go to the works to be mended. James brings the Breakdown Train to lift Luke onto a flatbed car and take him to the works to be mended, just as Diesel is trying to find Sir Topham Hatt, but puts himself in big danger, and falls off a cliff! Later, Luke is mended, and Diesel is sent away for making a bad choice.
