Jovian republics

The Jovian republics are a group of 23 different governments ranging from radically libertarian to near-totalitarian in their political philosophies. They govern the populations of the moons of the gas giant Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system. Virtually of of the Jovian republics are members of the Outworld Alliance, most of them are leading advocates of armed confrontation with the United Earth Regime and the League of Planets over mineral resources and mining in the asteroid belt (see asteroid belt in VESS). On rare occasions, two or more Jovian republic will engage in brief shooting wars with each other.
