It has been said that the Kaiu engineers possess an ingenuity to rival that of the dwarves. The dwarves hotly contest this, of course, but even they cannot deny the amount of planning and precision required to maintain the well-fortified network of tunnels under the Kaiu Mountains. These tunnels allow the Hiruma scouts to get in and out of Ikijigoku quickly and in relative safely, whil at the same time preventing any hungry monsters from getting into Tamekiriku by the same avenues. It is said that the labyrinth the Kaiu have woven into the mountains would baffle even a minotaur, but no minotaurs have yet felt the need to test this theory.
