The Kansas City Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Kings compete in the NBA as part of the Western Conference's Southwestern Division in Kansas City alongside the Royals in baseball, the Chiefs in football and Sporting KC in soccer. The Kings are the oldest franchise in the NBA having originated in 1948 as the Rochester Royals in Rochester, New York where they won their first NBA title in 1951. Then they moved to Cincinnati to become the Cincinnati Royals in 1957 and were there until 1972 where they first moved to Kansas City. They were originally in Kansas City from 1972 to 1985 and played their home games in Kemper Arena. The Kings moved to Sacramento in 1985 to become the Sacramento Kings where they were played in Sacramento, California from 1985 to 2015. Eventually, out of nowhere the Kings returned to their former home of Kansas City in 2015 where they won 2 NBA titles in 2016 and 2017.
