Latios draws inspiration from jet planes and the Gnostic deity called the "Aeon", which could be one of many emanations of God.
It also shares some traits of both dragons and birds. Both Latios and Latias may also have been inspired by the Yin and Yang of Chinese philosophy.
Latios has received positive reception for having a diverse movepool, which comes with noteworthy coverage in competitive play.
Latios is favoured by many as the more offensively-inclined of the Lati Twins. It can also run Defog and Roost for useful utility, while devastating most of the metagame with moves like Draco Meteor and Psyshock.
Like many powerful Pokémon, Latios has it's fair share of drawbacks. It can easily get shut down by Choice Scarf Tyranitar, who may threaten to deal extensive damage with Pursuit if Latios tries to switch out. Physically-inclined Dark Types like Bisharp and Weavile can also threaten it with moves like Sucker Punch and Knock Off.
