Linguistics
From Scratchpad
Okay, while waiting for responses from job applications, I thought I would go ahead and try to get the linguistics wiki up and running again. Hopefully, others of you out there on the market will be able to help out. Hopefully this will help us find out how far along the various universities are in their searches!
(see also: http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/AppliedLinguistics for other possible job updates)
TEMPLATE: please keep in alphabetical order.
In order to add something: click on the edit tab up above, and you'll see the wiki change and contain some basic html code. Copy the Template below, and then paste it in the list where you'd like your entry to be located. Simply add in the information between the : and the break code that ends the line of text. If you'd like to update an entry, click on edit next to the entry, and then type away!
A request: Could posters please use more specific time phrasing as "the week of March 14" or "January" instead of "this week" or "last month"? This way, the information can stay informative.

I hope it's just that it's taking longer than they expected. I actually thought they were being very optimistic about having phone interviews in mid-January when the deadline was only 7 January. We'll see, I guess.

<Was anyone else put off by the mass email with all the applicants' addresses showing?>
Q: Was there a mass email? What was it about? I don't know if I received it.
<The email went out on 28 Nov to all applicants up to that point promising further contact after the holidays. I thought that it was very unprofessional to reveal the email addresses of the other candidates.>
<That would explain it: I applied the day before the deadline. It is indeed in poor taste to reveal the email addresses of the other candidates. How many were there? Has the SC contacted you since?>
There were about 6 or 7, and I haven't heard a peep from them since.
Got the equal opportunity card in the mail 1/25.
Me, too. Weird to send it out so late.

On the Linguistics website? Under what heading? I'm curious to see who the candidates were.
Under the Events section, under both Friday and Monday colloquia.
