Earth's moon (Luna) in the universe of Alternate Earth and the Local Solar System has been populated for thousands of years. Politically, it is divided into three nations, the Lunar Free Republic, the Moon Federation, and the Selenite Union. The three are political and sometimes military rivals of each other. When it comes to politics on the planet Luna orbits as the sole natural satellite, the Lunar Free Republic is neutral, the Moon Federation favors the Pan-American Collective, and the Selenite Union is aligned with the Eurasian Dominate. The Lunar Free Republic and the Moon Federation are both democratic republics, though the Free Republic tends to be more libertarian in it's politics and public policies. The Selenite Union is governed by a coalition of the military and the civilian-dominated but authoritarian Selenite Nationalist Party.
