Mesothelae are a family of primitive spiders.

Mesothelae spiders were big, like other bugs of the Carboniferous. Mesothelae would have acted like a modern trapdoor spider, by making a web underground and wait either for the prey to fall into the web, or if the prey goes too close to the entrance.

  • Mesothelae refers to the family of spiders. The makers of Walking with Monsters were originally going to use Megarachne, but it was discovered to be a type of sea scorpion. They needed to use giant spiders for the episode.
