Transcript

  • George Carlin: Midlander is a old used to be broken engine who works at Blue Mountain quarry shunting freight cars in their sidings. She also is a diesel just like Rusty. Midlander is young and full of her own ideas. She loves rearranging things too and began putting Rusty's cars in different places every day. This made Rusty cross.
  • Rusty: Freight cars...
  • George Carlin: He grumbled.
  • Rusty: ...should be where you want them when you want them.
  • Midlander: Fiddlesticks!
  • George Carlin: Said Midlander and flounced away. At last, Rusty lost patience.
  • Rusty: I can't waste time playing "Hunt The Cars" with you. Take them yourself.
  • George Carlin: Midlander was pleased. Taking cars made her feel important. At the station,Smudger steamed up to her.
  • Midlander: Rusty's an old fusspot.
  • George Carlin: She complained. Smudger sense trouble and was delighted.
  • Midlander: Rusty says only never broken up engine can manage freight cars.
  • George Carlin: Continued Midlander.
  • Smudger: How observe.
  • George Carlin: Squirmed Smudger.
  • Smudger: Depend upon it, Midlander. Anything never broken up engines can do, we used to be broken engines can do better.
  • George Carlin: Smudger knew nothing about cars, but Midlander didn't realize this. Rusty's line crosses the main road behind the station, and for a short way follows a farm lane. Frosty weather makes the mud rock-hard and very slippery. Rusty stops before reaching the lane. His oiler halts the traffic at the level crossing and then he sets off again. By using the heavy cars to push him along, he has no trouble with the frosty rails and the lane and across the road. It is the only thing safe thing to do in this kind of weather. Rusty warned Midlander and told her just what to do.
  • Midlander: I can manage, thank you.
  • George Carlin: She replied.
  • Midlander: I'm not an old fusspot like you.
  • George Carlin: The freight cars were tired of being pushed around by Midlander.
  • Freight Cars: It's slippery.
  • George Carlin: They whispered.
  • Freight Cars: Let's push her around instead. On, on, on!
  • George Carlin: They yelled. Midlander took no notice. Instead, she brought the cars carefully down the lane and stopped at the level crossing. All traffic halted.
  • Midlander: One of the headlamp for fusspot Rusty.
  • George Carlin: Chortled Midlander. But Midlander had stopped in the wrong place. Instead of taking Rusty's advice, she had given the cars the chance they wanted.
  • Freight Cars: Hold back! Hold back!
  • George Carlin: They cried.
  • Midlander: Grrrr up!
  • George Carlin: Ordered Midlander. The cars just laughed and her wheels spun helplessly. Workmen sanded the rails and dig away the frozen mud, but it was no good. Everyone was impatient.
  • Midlander: Grrrr agh!
  • George Carlin: Wailed Midlander. Rusty was in the yard when he heard the news.
  • Rusty: I warned her.
  • George Carlin: He fumed.
  • Rusty's Driver: She's young yet.
  • George Carlin: Soothed his driver.
  • Rusty's Driver: And...
  • Rusty: She can manage her cars herself.
  • George Carlin: Interrupted Rusty.
  • Rusty's Driver: They're your cars really.
  • George Carlin: His driver replied.
  • Rusty's Driver: Midlander is suppose to stay at the quarry if Mr. Percival finds out.
  • Rusty: Mmmm, yes.
  • George Carlin: Said Rusty thoughtfully. He and his driver agreed that'll be best to help Midlander after all. An angry farmer was telling Midlander just what she could do with her train.
  • Rusty: Having trouble, Midlander?
  • George Carlin: Chortled Rusty.
  • Rusty: I am surprised.
  • Midlander: Grrrr osh!
  • George Carlin: Said Midlander.
  • (Rusty starts to couple up to Midlander)
  • George Carlin: With much oiling and wheels slipped, Rusty pushed Midlander and the freight cars back. The hard work made his engine oil fiercely, and his oiler spread hot oiler to melt the frozen mud.
  • (Rusty pushes Midlander and the cars all the way to the top)
  • George Carlin: At last they finished.
  • Rusty: Goodbye!
  • George Carlin: Called Rusty.
  • Rusty: You'll managed now, I expect.
  • George Carlin: Midlander didn't answer. She took the cars to the sheds, and scuttled home to the quarry as quickly as she could.
