Mildred Blaides

Mildred Blaides (also known as Mildred Haycock) is the sister of Bertha Conyers, sister-in-law of General Conyers, and is briefly the fiancée of Kenneth Widmerpool. A widowed mother of two ill-behaved and frequently-expelled teenage boys, she is very strong-willed and is depicted by other characters as being somewhat promiscuous. She had a fling with Ted Jeavons while she was a nurse during World War I and he was a patient at Dogdene while that estate was being used as an infirmary.
