Missile Cavalry are skilled soldiers riding on animal mounts and armed with missile weapons. This combination of ranged damage and high mobility makes missile cavalry perhaps the most formidable class of land combatants.

Javelin

Javelin cavalry possess uniformly high speed and stamina in addition to their dreaded armour-piercing javelins. With these they can perform a wide variety of roles with surprising proficiency. They can execute quick flanking maneuvers and throw their projectiles at slow, heavily armoured units like Dismounted Feudal Knights. The quick firing rate and deadliness of javelins combined with decent melee attack power also make javelin cavalry superb router chasers. But perhaps their most compelling strength is their ability to quickly kill Elephants while taking low casualties.

Longbow

Ignoring the obvious difficulty of firing a six-foot bow from a galloping horse, longbow cavalry excel at killing both "soft" and "hard" targets.

Crossbow

Crossbow cavalry are an odd bunch. They have more ammo than any other missile cavalry. Their reload time is only 2.5 seconds slower than bow cavalry. Most amusingly, they are able to operate the windlass mechanism on their crossbows while atop a galloping horse. But despite their almost comical appearance, crossbow cavalry actually aren't bad units. What they lack in raw hitting power they make up for with a flat, almost downward firing trajectory. This increases their chances of hitting considerably. Unfortunately none of the crossbow cavalry available have good morale or stamina.

Gunpowder

Gunpowder cavalry are the most expensive land units in the game, and rightfully so. Combining a mobile mount with highly damaging and fear-inducing ranged weapons makes for a most fearsome killing machine. The Timurids have taken this concept one step further and has made the mount a killing machine in its own right.
