[edit] About the Free Repair Campaign for Apple 17inch PowerBooks mini Wiki
This aim of this Wiki is to gather together information useful to owners of defective Apple 17inch 1.67Ghz G4 PowerBook with the Dreaded "Bridget Riley" vertical lines display defect, in order to motivate a collective campaign to get Apple Inc to...
- acknowledge the problem is wide spread and worldwide
- which they've failed to do for over a year since first reports arose;
- launch an investigation into the problem
- as they did in under two months when owners of 15inch G4 PowerBooks began reporting "white spots" on their displays - see Influencing Apple's Decision for that issue's timeline;
- instigate a Display Repair Extension Program
- as is already in place for the Apple 15inch model - see 15-inch PowerBook G4 Display Repair Extension Program; and
- as Dell already have in place for their notebook PCs with 17inch vertical lines display defects - see Dell's Repair Program.
[edit] About the Free Repair Campaign for Apple 17inch PowerBooks
We are a loose affiliation of owners of Apple 17inch G4 1.67GHz PowerBooks afflicted by the "Bridget Riley" vertical lines display defect. We aim to help persuade Apple Inc to acknowledge the problem and launch an investigation, pending the instigation of a worldwide Display Repair Extension Program to rectify the defect at no cost to end-users of afflicted PowerBooks.
