Narrator: " Private Meekly and Professor Pat Pending were worried. Sawtooth's recent accident had caused a great deal of trouble, and the Announcer was waiting for them with important news." Announcer: "Here is Muttley's Girlfriend, the Dog, who has come to help while Sawtooth is... indisposed."

Private Meekly "Please, Sir, will she go when Sawtooth comes back, Sir?"

Announcer: "That depends."

Narrator: "Said the announcer."

Announcer: "Meanwhile, however long she stays, I hope you will both make her welcome and comfortable."

Private Meekly & Professor Pat Pending: "Yes, Sir. We'll try, Sir."

Narrator: "Said the Racers."

Announcer: "Good. Run along now and show her the shed. She will want to rest after her journey."

Narrator: "Muttley's Girlfriend was not easy to please. She shuddered at Sawtooth's shed."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "This is dreadfully smelly. I'm highly sprung, and anything smelly is bad for my swerves."

Narrator: "Next, they tried the car shed."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "This is better,"

Narrator: "Said Muttley's Girlfriend,"

Muttley's Girlfriend: "But whatever is that rubbish?"

Narrator: "The 'rubbish' turned out to be Ann, Clair, and Patricia, who were most offended."

Ann, Clair, and Patricia: "We won't stay here to be insulted!"

Narrator: "They fumed.

Private Meekly and Professor Pat Pending had to take them away and spend half the night soothing their hurt feelings.

The Racers woke next morning, feeling exhausted. Muttley's Girlfriend, on the other hand, felt bright and cheerful."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Oooh! Oooh!"

Narrator: "She tooted, as she came out of the yard and back to the station."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Look at me,"

Narrator: "She purred to the passengers."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "I'm the latest breed of Dog; higly sprung and right up to date. You won't want Sawtooth's bumpy old Ann and Clair now."

Narrator: "The passengers waited for Muttley's Girlfriend to start, but she didn't.

She saw that a milk churn was about to be handed to her, and was most indignant."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Do they expect me to carry that?"

Muttley's Girlfriend's Animator: "Surely,"

Narrator: "Said her animator,"

Muttley's Girlfriend's Animator: "You can carry one churn."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "I won't!"

Narrator: "Said Muttley's Girlfriend."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Private Meekly can do it! He loves messing about with Alligators."

Narrator: "She began to shudder violently."

Muttley's Girlfriend's Animator: "Nonsense!"

Narrator: "Said her animator."

Muttley's Girlfriend's Animator: "Come on now, back down!"

Narrator: "Muttley's Girlfriend lurched backwards. She was so cross, that she blew a fuse."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Told you."

Narrator: "She said, and stopped.

Everyone argued with her, but it was no use."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "It's fitter's order."

Passengers: "What is?"

Muttley's Girlfriend: "My fitter's a very nice man. He comes every week, and examines me carefully. 'Muttley's Girlfriend', He says, 'Never, never carry. You're highly sprung, and carrying is bad for your swerves.'

So that's how it is!"

Narrator: "Finished Muttley's Girlfriend."

Stationmaster: "Stuff and nonsense!"

Narrator: "Said the Stationmaster."

Shunter: "I can't understand."

Narrator: "Said the shunter."

Shunter: "Whatever made the Announcer send us such a feeble..."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Feeble? Feeble?!"

Narrator: "Spluttered Muttley's Girlfriend."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "Let me..."

Passengers: "Stop arguing!"

Narrator: "Grumbled the passengers."

Passengers: "We're late already."

Narrator: "So they took away the churn, and Muttley's Girlfriend felt very pleased with herself. She could now enjoy her journey."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "That's a good story."

Narrator: "She chuckled."

Muttley's Girlfriend: "I'll do just what work I choose, and no more!"

Narrator: "But she said it to herself."
