The second of the two planetary surveys conducted jointly by NASA and the Japanese Space Organization (JSO). The survey employed the enhanced Queloz-Mayor Orbital Observatory (QMOO). The second survey was focused on stars within twenty-five light-years of Sol, scanned these stars for a planetary system containing one or more Earth-like planets. The search commenced in 2053CE and was concluded in 2093 CE. The second survey confirmed that the majority of G2 stars have planetary systems. Over half of the more than 300,000 star systems surveyed possessed planets. Within that number the survey found nearly 200 that appeared to be near Earth-normal. Probes were constructed and launched toward these colony world candidates beginning in 2058 CE (see –Origins II Probes).
