Q: Why do they use a single sound/shock pair instead of a series of sound/shock pairs to show fear conditioning?
Will- I'm thinking they used a single sound/shock pair because if they trained the animals on a number of pairs they may reach a ceiling and no longer see differences between the groups. I would however like to see the results of such an experiment, as it would indicate the extent of the impairment to fear conditioning.
Q: What can we make of the altered distribution of NMDAR at the synapse in mutant mice? Are we convinced that this altered distribution is responsible for the effect on LTP?
Q: The Blair et al. 2001 article brings up the issue of voltage gated calcium channels in LTP in the amygdala. Could this explain some of the learning that occurs in YF/YF mice?
