This is a wiki for exploration of New Media. Media in the 20th Century primarily consisted of broadcast media - three networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) in the U.S. and typically one newspaper per city (one size fits all). Transmission was asymmetrical, from broadcasters to passive consumers of media.
Media in the 21st Century allows citizens to produce as well as consume media. The web now supports a range of tools - blogs, wikis, podcasts, etc. - that allow and encourage symmetrical conversations, in which everyone can participate. Text, images, illustrations, sound, and digital video can be incorporated into these conversations.
This site provides a location for conversations about the New Media and its uses.
