Performance Memorial scheduled for Monday, September 18
Dear friends of Romey, Jerome, Bran or whatever name you might have known him by,
I hope that by now you have heard the sad news of his passing. On or about Aug. 1st, after suffering for many years from severe depression, he chose the manner, time and place of his death. This Sunday past (Aug.20) his ashes were scattered at sea, according to his wishes, and friends gave parting gifts of poetry, song, readings, memories, reflections, thoughts and, of course, love.
On Monday, September 18, his memorial will be held at the Theatre for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets). We will open up at about 7pm and begin performances/remembrances/whatever about 8pm. If you would like to share a song, a dance, a juggling act, a fling, a costume, a musical performance, a flagging routine or something in another category, please email me and let me know. I would love to see representation of the many facets of his fabulous life - storytelling, myth, circus arts, musical saw, concertina, stiltwalking, kites, whatever. I have appointed myself MC and organiser (at least until some unappoints - or should that be disappoints) me.
If you have pictures or video that you want to share, please send them (or web addresses for them) to me and I will do my best to compile them onto a DVD. I want to set up a video to play from 7 to 8 pm or so.
If you can contribute something besides performance to the memorial (food, beverages, DVD duplication services, money, help setting up, providing lodging for people who will be coming from out of town, or any of the thousand and one things I haven't thought of yet, please let me know. We need all the help we can get!
Did I mention opera or Broadway? Renaissance or Medieval Faires? He had such a multifaceted life that I'm sure that some of you can surprise me!
Please share with me your stories, poems, pictures or other memories of our friend/mentor/student/ teacher/coworker/fellow artiste Bran Jerome Marah. I will pass them along to everyone unless you tell me not to.
Forward this to everyone you think would be interested - and please include my email address so people can contact me to be added to this list for updates.
I thank you all for being part of Jerome's life! Please be in touch!
