Times New Roman is a bi-monthly student-run humor publication at Northeastern, in the vein of faux-news such as that made famous by the Onion, or more locally and comparatively the Weekly Week or Weekly Dig.
In 2005 the publication's web site was shut down by the university after their off-campus website was investigated in response to alleged violations of the campus network's Acceptable Use Policy. Two articles in the summer '05 issue were deemed offensive as an indirect result of the complaint. The magazine's print form was published and distributed normally, but the website outage, which lasted for 3 months, was blamed for a loss in readership. TNR added a disclaimer to every page stating the site's parodical nature to help avoid future complaints, and was required to ditch it's off-campus domain name.
