The Old States refers to the loose alliance of city-states on the Eastern Continent before the formation of the Zamrian Empire. No definitive date for the origin of the Old States can be given, as the earliest Humans formed the tribes that would later become the city-states.
The Old States had a history of internal strife and conflict in the struggle to find common ground among each state. Eventually Chancellor Zamrias proposed the formation of the Zamrian Empire to centralize the government and give all representatives equal say in matters concerning the whole. This proposition was accepted and the nation ceased to be known as the Old States.
