Interpretations of Transparency in Traditional Journalism

Speculative Breakdowns in Interpretation

Our Emerging Interpretation

Transparency is a new notion that has replaced the modern notion of reality; instead of the narrow, confrontational demand for individuals to be objective – a style that produces blindness – we accept that we are concernful individuals. And we make our point of view explicit: we reveal our thinking, our philisophical orientations, and our social concerns so that others may understand where we are coming from .

Transparency in journalism is about also disclosing where you get your resources. However, journalists are not about revealing their sources. Journalists role is to disclose public conversations, not to hold criminal investigations.

Transparency is revealing the discloser that discloses.
