The outer fringes of Earth's Solar System are officially considered the Outer Solar System Province of the Imperium of the Terran Throne, though the authority of the four Imperial governors (see Government of Imperium of the Terran Throne) are largely confined to portions of the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud that make up the outer limits of the local solar system and whose ice-and-rock asteroids are a source of comets that sometimes fall further into the local solar system. This region is also a source of water melted from the ice of the local comets/asteroids as well as minerals and metals for local industry.

The moons of the four gas giant planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune) and the Trojan asteroids in Jupiter's orbit are dominated by a so-called Cyber Free Regime dominated by robots and computers with A.I., and who sometimes have diplomatic exchanges with the Imperium of the Terran Throne, but at other times are active anti-Imperium.

The seat of local government for the Imperium province is the planet Pluto. The Imperium's control of the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud are contested by the twin planets Spectra and Stygia (which are both about Earth-sized, independent, democratic, and orbit each other), and there have been frequent conflicts between the two nations. The population of Spectra and Stygia are organic clones (both human and chimera), but the local population is hostile to the idea of robots and computers possessing true intelligence, and this, along with the competition for natural resources, is a leading reason for the anti-Imperium stance, because the Imperium of the Terran Throne tolerates, even encourages, A.I. for robots and computers.
