This region of the solar system in "Space the Ultimate Frontier" has only in the past century or two been the target of efforts at exploration and colonization. Most colonies out here are independent, but some are affiliated with the Ceres Corporation or the Free Worlds League based in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter (see Asteroid Belt in Space the Ultimate Frontier).
