Script

  • (We open this episode with a CGI Thomas passing over a bridge)
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas and Friends: Making Tracks To Great Destinations.
  • (We then find a book with Thomas in it. It opens and reads itself)
  • Rev W. Awdry: Dear Christopher. Here is your friend Thomas the Tank Engine. He wanted to come out of the station yard and see the world. These stories tell you how he did it. I hope you will like them because you helped me to make them. Your loving daddy.
  • (The series then starts with the Season 8-10 intro. After that, the Island of Sodor opening sequence starts)
  • Michael Brandon: The Island of Sodor is surrounded by beautiful blue sea. It has fields of green and sandy yellow beaches. There are rivers, streams, and lots of trees where the birds sing. There are windmills and a coal mine, and docks are visitors to the island arrived. The island also has lots and lots of railway lines. Who's that puffing down the track?
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Michael Brandon: It's Thomas!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • Michael Brandon: Hello, Thomas!
  • Thomas: Hello, everybody! Welcome to the Island of Sodor!
  • (Thomas' whistle toots)
  • (Toby's bell rings)
  • (Trevor's whistle toots)
  • (Edward's whistle toots)
  • (An engine puffing by sequence then happens and we start today's episode)
  • Michael Brandon: Today on the Island of Sodor, we find out what happens when Emily gets to pull the express. But first, Thomas has to collect a very special special.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Thomas Gets It Right)
  • Michael Brandon: It had been a stormy night on the Island of Sodor. Telegraph poles have blown down. Tiles had blown off the station roofs. And branches had fallen onto the lines. All over the island the storm had made a terrible mess. Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: The storm has caused confusion and delay.
  • Michael Brandon: He boomed.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: So you must all be really useful engines.
  • James: I'll be the most useful engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Boasted James.
  • Gordon: No, I will.
  • Michael Brandon: Sniffed Gordon.
  • Gordon: I'm the fastest, I'll do the most journeys.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas hoped he could finish his special delivery as quickly as possible. He wanted to do the most journeys, and be the most useful engine of all. Soon, all the engines were steaming away from Tidmouth Sheds. James went to Knapford Yard to pick up the workmen. Gordon went to the Goods Yard to collect telegraph poles. Toby trundled to collect new roof tiles. And Thomas steamed over to Maron Station. Farmer McColl was waiting for Thomas. Next to him were boxes and boxes of newly laid eggs.
  • Farmer McColl: These fresh eggs are needed across the island.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Farmer McColl. The station staff quickly loaded Thomas' freight cars with the eggs. And Thomas was raring to go.
  • Farmer McColl: My eggs must be delivered safely.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Farmer McColl.
  • Farmer McColl: So I am coming to make sure you go slowly and carefully.
  • Thomas: Slowly.
  • Michael Brandon: Wheeshed Thomas sadly. He wanted to finish his job quickly and make lots of journeys. Thomas gave one sad toot of his whistle and slowly pulled away. Thomas trundled on. He huffed and puffed as gently as he could. Thomas had to stop at a crossing. Gordon steamed by.
  • Gordon: Fastest and best.
  • Michael Brandon: He chirped. Gordon looked very happy. Thomas felt very sad. Thomas pulled into Maithwaite Station. James was waiting, he was carrying workmen. They were fixing the station house roof. Station staff unloaded four boxes of eggs for the village store.
  • James: How many journeys have you done?
  • Michael Brandon: Asked James brightly.
  • Thomas: This is my first.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Thomas.
  • James: Ha.
  • Michael Brandon: Huffed James.
  • James: I'm on my third, I'm as red as a rocket and twice as fast.
  • Michael Brandon: And he steamed quickly out of the station. Thomas was upset. He wanted to go fast more than ever. Now, the eggs were unloaded and Thomas chuffed slowly out of the station. Thomas puffed across the countryside, very, very slowly. Then Thomas saw Toby taking on coal in a siding. His freight cars were full of roof tiles. Toby was having a wonderful day.
  • Toby: I'm on my second journey.
  • Michael Brandon: He whistled proudly. Thomas was very sad. Toby rushed past him. It made Thomas want to go faster than ever.
  • Thomas: Even Toby has made more journeys then me.
  • Michael Brandon: He moaned.
  • Thomas: It's not fair. I can be fast and careful.
  • Michael Brandon: So Thomas started to speed up.
  • Thomas: Fast and careful, fast and careful.
  • Michael Brandon: He huffed happily. But Thomas was going so fast, he wasn't being careful. Farmer McColl was worried.
  • Farmer McColl: Slow down, Thomas.
  • Michael Brandon: He called.
  • Farmer McColl: You will break my eggs.
  • Michael Brandon: But Thomas was going so quickly, he didn't hear Farmer McColl. And he didn't slow down, he went even faster. The eggs started to bounce in their boxes. Then Thomas changed lines, it caused a big bump. The eggs were breaking. Thomas came to a junction, he had to slow down.
  • Farmer McColl: Stop, Thomas!
  • Michael Brandon: Cried Farmer McColl.
  • Farmer McColl: You have broken my eggs.
  • Michael Brandon: This time Thomas did hear Farmer McColl, and he stopped right away.
  • Thomas: Cinders and Ashes!
  • Michael Brandon: He cried. But Farmer McColl was still cross. Thomas felt bad.
  • Thomas: I'm sorry.
  • Michael Brandon: He whistled.
  • Thomas: I just wanted to be really useful.
  • Michael Brandon: Farmer McColl checked his eggs. Luckily only a few were broken. Now, Thomas knew he had to go slowly. So he pulled away as gently as he could. Thomas headed for Brendam Docks. Suddenly he heard an impatient toot. James was behind him. He blew his whistle loudly. But Thomas knew he couldn't speed up.
  • Thomas: Sometimes going slowly can be just as important as going fast.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Thomas. And he puffed carefully on. That evening, Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds. He looked very pleased.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You have all worked hard and have been really useful engines.
  • Michael Brandon: He said proudly. The engines were very happy, except for Thomas. He was thinking about the broken eggs.
  • Thomas: I only made one journey, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: He said sadly.
  • Thomas: And I broke Farmer McColl's eggs.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: But most of the eggs were delivered safely.
  • Michael Brandon: Boomed Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Farmer McColl gave the broken ones to me. And I love having scrambled eggs for my breakfast. You, Thomas...
  • Michael Brandon: He added.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: ...are a really useful engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas just beamed.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin a learning segment)
  • Michael Brandon: Here are some dots. If we join the dots, we will see one of the engines on Sir Topham Hatt's railway. I wonder which engine it is. Let's join the dots and find out. Here we go. Around the tender and the cab. There's the dome and a very tall funnel. Can you tell who it is yet? Around the buffers and the wheels. They are very big wheels. There's only one engine on Sodor with wheels that big. Do you know who it is? Yes, it's Emily! Hello, Emily!
  • (Emily's whistle toots)
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin Patience Is A Virtue)
  • Children: (singing) Patience is a virtue, so it never hurts to Take a little time to see Sir Topham Hatt has taught you And you know you ought to Be as patient as can be Happy waiting patiently Don't get too excited, just try staying calm Thinking for a minute, saves you so much harm Everything around you is rushing here and there Life can be so simple, if you make time to spare Patience is a virtue, so it never hurts to Take a little time to see Sir Topham Hatt has taught you And you know you ought to Be as patient as can be Happy waiting patiently.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin another learning segment)
  • Michael Brandon: The children are going to school. Bertie has brought them to the station early. The children have to wait for Gordon. Listen, what's that? There's a train coming. It's a blue engine, so it could be Gordon. But look, this engine has got a tall thin funnel. And it's only got four wheels. That's not Gordon. Do you know who it is? It's Edward. The children like seeing Edward, but today he is carrying coal. The children still have to wait for Gordon. Listen, what's that? There's another train coming. I wonder if this one is Gordon. It's another blue engine, but look, this engine has big water tanks over its wheels. And it's got the number one on its side. That's not Gordon. But do you know who it is? It's Thomas and he's pulling Annie and Clarabel. The children loved seeing Thomas, but Thomas doesn't stop at the station. The children still have to wait for Gordon. Listen, what's that? There's another train coming. I hope this one is Gordon. It's another blue engine. This engine has a very short funnel. It's very big and very fast. It's Gordon! The children waited patiently for Gordon. And now, Gordon will get them to school on time. Well done, Gordon.
  • (Another puffing by sequence occurs and we begin As Good As Gordon)
  • Michael Brandon: It was a beautiful fall day on the Island of Sodor. All the engines will working very hard. Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds. He had exciting news.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Gordon is to take the new Mayor of Sodor on a special tour of the island.
  • Michael Brandon: He announced. Gordon was thrilled. But then he had thought.
  • Gordon: Who will take the express, sir?
  • Michael Brandon: He asked. The other engines were excited. Pulling the express was an important job. Everyone wanted to be chosen, but Sir Topham Hatt chose Emily. When Sir Topham Hatt left, Emily was very happy. But Gordon wasn't impressed.
  • Gordon: The express is the long as passenger train on the island.
  • Michael Brandon: He sniffed.
  • Gordon: I always cross the island twice by teatime. You'll never do that.
  • Emily: I've got big wheels and I'll do my best.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Emily.
  • Gordon: Big wheels don't make a big engine.
  • Michael Brandon: Boasted Gordon.
  • Gordon: Everyone knows I'm the best.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas thought Gordon was showing off.
  • Thomas: Twice before teatime.
  • Michael Brandon: He puffed.
  • Thomas: That will be hard.
  • Michael Brandon: But Emily wasn't listening to Thomas.
  • Emily: I'm going to be as good as Gordon.
  • Michael Brandon: She said eagerly. And she steamed away as fast as she could. Emily puffed into Knapford Station. She was looking forward to taking the express, but it was very very heavy.
  • Emily: Bust my buffers!
  • Michael Brandon: She gasped and she slowly pulled out of the station, but she pulled away too soon and left the brake coach behind. Emily puffed with all her might. She was determined to be fast. Emily had crossed the island once in good time.
  • Emily: I am as good as Gordon.
  • Michael Brandon: She puffed proudly. Emily had to wait for Edward at the crossing. Edward went as fast as he could, but it wasn't fast enough for Emily.
  • Emily: Hurry up, slowcoach.
  • Michael Brandon: She cried.
  • Emily: Or you will make me late.
  • Michael Brandon: Edward felt sad but Emily just steamed off. Emily stopped at Maithwaite Station. The express was a guaranteed connection with Bertie the bus. But Bertie hadn't arrived. He had a flat tire and was running late. Emily tried to wait. She counted to ten twice, but she felt as if her boiler would burst.
  • Emily: I'm going to be the slowest engine on Sodor.
  • Michael Brandon: She cried.
  • Emily: And it's not my fault.
  • Michael Brandon: And she puffed away. When Bertie arrived, Emily had already left. Emily need to take on water. But James was at the water tower. He was pulling a slow goods train. Emily wanted to go first.
  • Emily: It doesn't matter you were late.
  • Michael Brandon: She said.
  • James: You must wait your turn.
  • Michael Brandon: Said James crossly.
  • Emily: Express trains don't wait.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Emily and she left without taking on water. Emily went faster than ever. Her coaches rocked and rolled. And her passengers were biffed and bumped and bounced. Finally, Emily could see Brendam Docks up ahead.
  • Emily: Twice before teatime.
  • Michael Brandon: She puffed happily.
  • Emily: I am as good as Gordon.
  • Michael Brandon: Then there was trouble. Emily slowed down.
  • Emily: What's happening to me?!
  • Michael Brandon: She cried. She went slower and slower. Emily had run out of water. She huffed and puffed, but she had no steam left. Finally, Emily came to a complete stop. Sir Topham Hatt arrived on board James. He was very cross.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You should have waited.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt sternly.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: And now you have caused confusion and delay. You left the brake coach, stranded Bertie's passengers and bumped your coaches. You must learn to be more patient.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily knew Sir Topham Hatt was right. She felt very bad. She was only trying to be as good as Gordon.
  • Emily: I'm sorry, sir.
  • Michael Brandon: She said sadly. James pulled Emily into the docks. Then, he went back to collect the express.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Now I need an engine to take the slow goods train.
  • Michael Brandon: Said Sir Topham Hatt. Emily had an idea.
  • Emily: Make I take it, sir?
  • Michael Brandon: She said.
  • Emily: If I had to go slowly?
  • Michael Brandon: Sir Topham Hatt thought it was a grand idea.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: The slow goods train needs lots of patience.
  • Michael Brandon: He said. Emily was pleased. She was determined to do a good job. So after she took on water, and lots of coal, Emily buffered up to the slow goods train. She stopped at all the right stations. And then she left all the other engines go first. She stopped at a signal. Thomas was waiting there.
  • Emily: Hey, Thomas, I am learning patience.
  • Michael Brandon: Emily puffed.
  • Emily: But if only I can learn it faster.
  • Michael Brandon: Thomas had to laugh.
  • (Another puffing by sequence happens and Engine Roll Call starts)
  • Children: (singing) They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue. They're the really useful crew. All with different rows to play round Tidmouth Sheds or far away. Down the hills and round the bends, Thomas and his friends. Thomas - he's the cheeky one, James - is vain but lots of fun, Percy - pulls the mail on time, Gordon - thunders down the line, Emily - really knows her stuff, Henry - toots and huffs and puffs, Edward - wants to help and share, Toby - well let's say, he's square. They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue. They're the really useful crew. All with different rows to play round Tidmouth Sheds or far away. Down the hills and round the bends, Thomas and his friends. They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. Shunting trucks and hauling freight. Red and green and brown and blue. They're the really useful crew. All with different rows to play round Tidmouth Sheds or far away. Down the hills and round the bends, Thomas and his friends.
  • (Following the last song, we find the Season 8-10 end credits with Thomas looking at the credits)
  • (While they roll, the Thomas Season 8-10 end theme plays)
  • (After that, the 2004 HiT Entertainment logo appears)
