	Peach	Super Mario Bros. (1985)	A heroine of the Mario series. Veteran of Melee.
	Donkey Kong	Donkey Kong (1981)	A hero of the Mario series, who later got his own spin-off series. Veteran of both original games.
	Yoshi	Super Mario World (1991)	A hero from the Mario series, who later got his own spin-off series. Veteran of both original games.
	Link	The Legend of Zelda (1986)	The hero of the Legend of Zelda series. Veteran of both original games.
	Zelda	The Legend of Zelda (1986)	A heroine of the Legend of Zelda series. Veteran of Melee. She can transform into Sheik.
	Ganondorf	The Legend of Zelda (1986)	The villain of the Legend of Zelda series. Veteran of Melee. To unlock: Beat Classic on Hard with Link or Zelda Meet in Subspace Emissary after rescuing Link and Zelda Play 200 Brawls
	Toon Link	The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003)	An alternate form of Link. Veteran of Melee, but name changed for Brawl. To unlock: Beat Classic with after beating Subspace Emissary Meet in Subspace Emissary after beating Tabuu Play 400 Brawls
	Samus	Metroid (1986)	The heroine of the Metroid series. Veteran of both original games. Capable of transforming into Zero Suit Samus.
	Ice Climbers	Ice Climber (1985)	The heroes of the Ice Climber series. Veterans of Melee.
	Kirby	Kirby's Dream Land (1992)	The hero of the Kirby series. Veteran of both original games.
	Fox	Star Fox (1993)	The hero of the Star Fox series. Veteran of both original games.
	Falco	Star Fox (1993)	A hero of the Star Fox series. Veteran of Melee. To unlock: Beat 100 Man Brawl Meet in Subspace Emissary Play 50 Brawls
	Captain Falcon	F-Zero (1990)	The hero of the F-Zero series. Veteran of both original games. To unlock: Beat Classic on Normal in under 12 minutes Meet in Subspace Emissary Play 70 Brawls
	Pikachu	Pokémon Red and Blue/Green (1996)	The most famous Pokémon from the Pokémon series. Veteran of both original games.

	Wolf	Star Fox 64 (1997)	A villain of the Star Fox series. To unlock: Beat Boss Rush with Fox or Falco after beating Subspace Emissary Meet in Subspace Emissary after beating Tabuu Play 450 Brawls
	Pokémon Trainer	Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen (2004)	A hero from the Pokémon series. He fights with his three Pokémon-Ivysaur, Charizard, and Squirtle-and only one is used at a time.
	Lucario	Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (2006)	A Pokémon from the Pokémon series. To unlock: Beat all 5 levels of Target Test Meet in Subspace Emissary Play 100 Brawls
	Ike	Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (2005)	A hero from the Fire Emblem series.
	Lucas	Mother 3 (2006)	A hero from the Earthbound/Mother series.
	Snake	Metal Gear (1987)	The hero of the Metal Gear series. He is the first third-party character in the series. To unlock: Play at Shadow Moses Island 15 times Meet in Subspace Emissary Play 130 Brawls
	Sonic	Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)	The hero of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. To unlock: Beat Classic with 10 different characters Beat Subspace Emissary Play 300 Brawls
