Narrator: "Every afternoon, Pongo the Dalmatian puffs along his route with Abigail and Amelia. First, they pass the water mill. Next, they come to a big farm. Then, they can see a bridge with a village nestled either side of it.
This is a special place. Whenever children hear Pongo coming along, they stand on the bridge, waving until he is out of sight.
One day, Pongo was running late. He had stopped at a red light before the bridge to talk to some new children. Piglet was waiting, too."
Piglet: "Hurry up, Pongo."
Narrator: "Called Piglet, when the light turned green."
Piglet: "If you're late, Mickey Mouse might get a new Disney character to replace you."
Pongo: "He would never do that!"
Narrator: "Thought Pongo, but he was worried.
Next day, Pongo hurried along the path. Just ahead was the goods yard. There, on the platform, was an inspector waving a red flag.
Next, Pongo saw some children. They were waving too."
Pongo: "Something must be wrong."
Narrator: "Thought Pongo."
Pongo: "This station's for goods, not passengers."
Children: "Help, Pongo, help! We are glad to see you."
Narrator: "Called the children."
Children: "Please, will you take us home?"
Narrator: "The stationmaster explained to Pongo's driver that the school bus had broken down, and that all the parents would be worried if the children were late.
Pongo waited as the children walked down from the bridge. Then he took the children to the next station, where Tod was waiting to take them home.
When Pongo finished his journey, he was very late. He was worried that Mickey might be cross with him."
Piglet: "I warned Pongo."
Narrator: "Puffed Piglet to Donald."
Piglet: "He's been late one time too many. He'll be in trouble now."
Narrator: "But next morning, Mickey Mouse was nowhere to be seen."
Pongo: "Thank goodness."
Narrator: "Sighed Pongo.
Pongo knows every part of his route. But just ahead was a stretch where the hot sun had bent the road."
Pongo's Driver: "Careful, Pongo!"
Narrator: "Called his driver. But it was too late."
Pongo's Driver: "That's done it!"
Narrator: "Said his driver."
Pongo's Driver: "We shan't get any further today!"
Pongo: "But what about my passengers?"
Pongo's Driver: "Don't worry, they'll be looked after."
Narrator: "Replied his driver.
While workmen repaired the road, Pongo had to work with pirates in the yard. Tod came to see him."
Tod: "I understand you need my help again."
Pongo: "Yes, Tod."
Narrator: "Replied Pongo sadly."
Pongo: "I can't run without my road."
Narrator: "Tod set off to collect Pongo's passengers."
Passengers: "Hello, Tod."
Narrator: "They said."
Passengers: "We are glad you are here."
Narrator: "Tod ran along the road by Pongo's path. He stopped at each station along the path. Sometimes he stopped between stations to let people off closer to their homes. Pongo felt miserable."
Pongo: "I've lost my passengers. They'll like Tod better than me."
Narrator: "Mickey Mouse arrived."
Mickey Mouse: "Your route is repaired. I'm going to change your timetable so that you and Tod can work together more."
Narrator: "When Pongo reached the station, there were all his passengers."
Passengers: "Tod is a good fox, but we missed our rides with you."
Narrator: "They said.
Later, Pongo spoke to Tod."
Pongo: "Thank you for looking after my passengers."
Tod: "Oh, that's all right, Pongo. I like to make new friends, but I'm glad to share them with you."
Narrator: "Said Pongo."
Pongo: "You're a very good friend indeed!"
