Pooh Gets Tricked

  • Ringo Starr: Pooh is a bear, who lives in a big house in Disneyland. He's a cheeky little bear with two fluffy ears, a red shirt, two yellow feet and a big fat tummy. He's a fussy little bear too. Always pulling coaches about ready for the big characters can take on long journeys. And when trains come in, he pulls the empty coaches away so that the big engines can go on rest. Pooh thinks no character works has hard as he does. He loves playing tricks on them, including Mike the biggest and proudest character of all. Pooh likes to tease Mike with his whistle.
  • Pooh: Wake up, lazybones. Why don't you work hard like me?
  • Ringo Starr: One day after pulling the big express, Mike had arrived back on the sidings very tired. He was just going to sleep when Pooh came up in his cheeky way.
  • Pooh: Wake up, lazybones. Do some hard work for a change. You can't catch me!
  • Ringo Starr: And off he ran laughing. Instead of going to sleep again, Mike thought how he can back at Pooh. One morning, Pooh wouldn't wake up. His driver and fireman couldn't make him start. His fire went out and there was not enough steam. It was nearly time for the express. People are waiting, but the coaches weren't ready. At last, Pooh started.
  • Pooh: Oh dear, oh dear!
  • Ringo Starr: He yawned. He fussed into the station where Mike was waiting.
  • Mike: Hurry up, you!
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Pooh: Hurry yourself.
  • Ringo Starr: Replied Pooh. Mike the proud character began making his plan to teach Pooh a lesson for teasing him. Almost before the coaches had stopped moving, Mike reversed quickly and was coupled to the train.
  • Mike: Get in quickly, please!
  • Ringo Starr: He whistled. Pooh usually pushed behind the big trains to help them start, but he was always uncoupled first. This time, Mike start so quickly they forgot to uncouple Pooh. Mike's chance had come.
  • Mike: Come on, come on!
  • Ringo Starr: Puffed Mike to the coaches. The train went faster and faster. Too fast for Pooh, he wanted to stop, but he couldn't.
  • Pooh: Peep peep! Stop, stop!
  • Mike: Hurry, hurry, hurry!
  • Ringo Starr: Laughed Mike.
  • Coaches: You can't get away, you can't get away!
  • Ringo Starr: Laughed the coaches. Poor Pooh was going faster than he had ever gone before. He was out of breath and his feet hurt him, but he had to go on.
  • Pooh: I shall never be the same again.
  • Ringo Starr: He thought sadly.
  • Pooh: My feet will be quite worn out.
  • Ringo Starr: At last, they stopped at the station. Pooh was uncoupled and he felt very silly and exhausted. Next he went on to the turntable thinking of everyone laughing at him. And then he ran on to a siding out of the way.
  • Mike: Well, little Pooh.
  • Ringo Starr: Chuckled Mike.
  • Mike: Now you know what hard work means, don't you?
  • Ringo Starr: Poor Pooh couldn't answer. He had no breath. He just puffed slowly away to rest and had a long long drink.
  • Pooh: Maybe I don't have to tease Mike to feel important.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh thought to himself. And he puffed slowly home.

Buzz Helps Out

  • Ringo Starr: One day, Buzz Lightyear was in the house where he lived with the other Disney characters. They were all bigger than Buzz and boasted about it.
  • Mike: The driver won't choose you again.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Mike: He wants strong characters like us.
  • Ringo Starr: But the driver and fireman felt sorry for Buzz.
  • Driver: Would you like to come out today?
  • Buzz: Oh yes, please.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Buzz. So they lit his fire, made lots of steam and Buzz puff away. The other characters were very cross of being left behind. Buzz worked hard all day. The coaches thought he was very kind and the driver was very pleased.
  • Buzz: I'm going out again tomorrow.
  • Ringo Starr: Buzz told the other characters that night.
  • Buzz: What do you think at that?
  • Ringo Starr: But he didn't hear what they thought, for he was so tired and happy that he fell asleep at once. Next morning, Buzz woke up to find nothing had change. Mike was still boasting.
  • Mike: You watch me, little Buzz, as I rush through with the express. That will be a splendid sight for you. Goodbye, little Buzz. Look out for me this afternoon.
  • Ringo Starr: Buzz went off to do some shunting. He like shunting. It was fun playing with pirates. He would come out quietly and gave them a push. Then he would stop, and the silly pirates will go bump into the each other.
  • Pirates: Oh!
  • Ringo Starr: They cried.
  • Pirates: Whatever is happening?
  • Ringo Starr: Mike played till there were no more pirates. Then he stopped to rest. Presently, he heard a whistle. Mike was very cross. Instead of pulling shiny new coaches, he was pulling a very dirty freight train.
  • Mike: A freight train, a freight train, a freight train!
  • Ringo Starr: He grumbled.
  • Mike: The shame of it, the shame of it, oh, the shame of it!
  • Ringo Starr: Buzz laughed and went to find some more pirates. Then, there was trouble.
  • Porter: Mike can't get up the hill.
  • Ringo Starr: The porter called to Buzz's Driver.
  • Porter: Will you take Buzz and push him please?
  • Ringo Starr: They found Mike halfway up, and very cross. His driver and fireman were talking to him severely.
  • Driver: You're not trying.
  • Mike: I can't do it!
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Mike: The noisy pirates hold a character back so!
  • Ringo Starr: Buzz's driver came up.
  • Driver: We've come to push.
  • Mike: No use at all!
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Driver: You wait and see.
  • Ringo Starr: Replied Buzz's driver. They brought the train back to the bottom of the hill.
  • Buzz: I'm ready.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Buzz.
  • Mike: No good.
  • Ringo Starr: Grumbled Mike. They pulled and pushed as hard as they could.
  • Mike: I can't do it, I can't do it, I can't do it!
  • Ringo Starr: Puffed Mike.
  • Buzz: I will do it, I will do it, I will do it!
  • Ringo Starr: Puffed Buzz. Buzz pushed and puffed and puffed and pushed as hard as ever he could. And almost before he realized it, Mike found himself at the top of the hill.
  • Mike: I've done it, I've done it, I've done it!
  • Ringo Starr: He said proudly. He forgot all about kind Buzz and didn't say thank you. Buzz was left out of breath and far behind, but he was happy because he had been so helpful. At the next station, he found that the driver and fireman were very pleased with him. The fireman gave him a nice long drink and the driver said...
  • Driver: I'll get out my paint tomorrow, and give you your beautiful coat of blue with red stripes, then you'll be the smartest character in the shed.

Come Out Randy

  • Ringo Starr: Once a character taking some flowers was afraid of a few drops of rain. It went into a tunnel and squeaked through its funnel, and wouldn't come out again. The character's name is Randy. His driver and fireman argued with him, but he would not move.
  • Randy: The rain would spoil my lovely green paint and red stripes.
  • Ringo Starr: He said. The conductor blew his whistle till he had no more breath, and waved his flag till his arms ached, but Randy still stayed in the tunnel and blew steam at him.
  • Randy: I'm not going to spoil my lovely green paint and red stripes for you.
  • Ringo Starr: Then, along came Mickey Mouse, the mouse of charge of all the characters on Disneyland.
  • Mickey: We will pull you out.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mickey. But Randy only blew steam at him. Everyone pulled except Mickey.
  • Mickey: Because... (clears his throat)
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Mickey: ...my doctor has forbidden me to pull.
  • Ringo Starr: But still, Randy stayed in the tunnel. Then, they tried pushing from the other end. Mickey said...
  • Mickey: One, two, three, push!
  • Ringo Starr: ...but he didn't help.
  • Mickey: (clears his throat again) My doctor has forbidden me to push.
  • Ringo Starr: He said. They pushed, and pushed, and pushed, but still, Randy stayed in the tunnel. At last, Pooh Bear came along. The conductor waved his red flag and stopped him. Everyone argued with Randy.
  • Everyone: Look, it has stopped raining.
  • Ringo Starr: They said.
  • Randy: Yes, but it will began again soon.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Randy.
  • Randy: And what will become with green paint with red stripes then?
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh pushed and puffed and pushed as hard as ever he could. But still Randy stayed in the tunnel. Eventually, even Mickey Mouse gave up.
  • Mickey: We shall take away your rails...
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Mickey: ...and leave you here until you're ready to come out of the tunnel.
  • Ringo Starr: They took up the old rails, and built a wall in front of Randy, so the other characters wouldn't bump into him. All Randy could do was to watch the trains rushing through the other tunnel. He was very sad, because he thought no one would see his lovely green paint and red stripes again. As time went on, Buzz and Mike would often pass by. Buzz would say...
  • Buzz: Peep, peep! Hello!
  • Ringo Starr: And Mike would say...
  • Mike: Boop, boop, boop! Serves you right!
  • Ringo Starr: Poor Randy had no steam to answer. His fire had gone out. Soot and dirt from the tunnel had spoilt his lovely green paint with red stripes anyway. How long do you think Randy would stay in the tunnel before he overcomes his fear of the rain, but then decides to journey out again?

Randy To The Rescue

  • Ringo Starr: Mike Chilton always pulled the express flowers. He was proud of being the only person strong enough to do so. It was full of important people like Mickey Mouse and Mike will see how fast he can go.
  • Mike: Hurry, hurry, hurry!
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Coaches: Trickety-trock, trickety-trock, tricktey-trock!
  • Ringo Starr: Said the coaches. In a minute, Mike will see the tunnel where Randy stood bricked up and lonely.
  • Randy: Oh, dear. Why did I worried about rain spoiling my lovely coat of paint? I'd like to come out of the tunnel.
  • Ringo Starr: But Randy didn't know how to ask.
  • Mike: I'm going to boop boop at Randy.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike. He was almost there when... (Wheesh!) And there was proud Mike going slower and slower in a cloud of steam. His driver stopped the train.
  • Mike: What has happen to me?
  • Ringo Starr: Asked Mike.
  • Mike: I feel so weak.
  • Driver: You burst your safety valves.
  • Ringo Starr: Said the driver.
  • Driver: You can't pull the train anymore.
  • Mike: Oh dear.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Mike: We were going so nicely too. And look, there's Randy laughing at me.
  • Ringo Starr: Everyone came to see Mike.
  • Mickey: Hmph.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mickey.
  • Mickey: These big character are always causing me trouble. Send for another character at once.
  • Ringo Starr: While the conductor went to find one, they uncoupled Mike who had enough puff to slink on the siding out of the way. Buzz was the only character left.
  • Buzz: I'll come and try.
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Mike: Hmph.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Mike: That's no use. Buzz can't push the train.
  • Ringo Starr: The kind Buzz puffed and pushed and pushed and puffed but he couldn't move the heavy coaches.
  • Mike: I told you so.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mike.
  • Mike: Why not let Randy try?
  • Mickey: Yes.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mickey.
  • Mickey: I will. Will you help pull this train, Randy?
  • Ringo Starr: He asked.
  • Randy: Oh yes.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Randy. When Randy had got up steam, he puffed out. He was dirty and covered with cobwebs.
  • Randy: Ooh, I'm stiffed, I'm stiffed.
  • Ringo Starr: He groaned.
  • Mickey: Have a run to ease your joints and find a turntable.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mickey. When Randy came back, he felt much better. Then they coupled him up.
  • Buzz: Peep peep.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Buzz.
  • Buzz: I'm ready.
  • Randy: Peep peep peep.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Randy.
  • Randy: So am I. Pull hard, we'll do it! Pull hard, we'll do it!
  • Ringo Starr: They puffed together.
  • Buzz: We've done it together! We've done it together!
  • Ringo Starr: Said Buzz and Randy.
  • Coaches: You've done it hurray! You've done it hurray!
  • Ringo Starr: Sang the coaches. Everyone was excited. Mickey Mouse leaned out on the window to wave at Buzz and Randy. But the train was going so fast, that his hat blew off into a field where a goat ate it for tea. They never stopped til they came to the station at the end of the line. The passengers all said thank you, and Mickey Mouse promised Randy a new coat of paint. One their way home, Buzz and Randy helped Mike back to the shed. All three characters are now great friend. Randy doesn't mind the rain now. He knows that the best way to keep his paint nicely not to run into tunnels, but to ask his driver to rub him down when the day's work was over.

A Big Day For Pooh

  • Ringo Starr: Winnie The Pooh was grumbling to the other characters.
  • Pooh: I spent my time pulling coaches about ready for you to take out on journeys.
  • Ringo Starr: The other characters laughed.
  • Pooh: Why can't I pull passenger trains too?
  • Mike: You're too impatient.
  • Ringo Starr: They said.
  • Mike: You'd be sure to leave something behind.
  • Pooh: Rubbish!
  • Ringo Starr: Said Pooh.
  • Pooh: I'll show you.
  • Ringo Starr: One night, he and Randy were alone. Randy was ill. The men worked hard, but he didn't get better. He felt just as bad next morning. Randy usually pull the first train and Pooh had to get his coaches ready.
  • Pooh: If Randy is ill.
  • Ringo Starr: He thought.
  • Pooh: Perhaps I shall pull his train.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh ran off to find the coaches.
  • Pooh: Come along, come along.
  • Ringo Starr: He fussed.
  • Coaches: There's plenty of time, there's plenty of time!
  • Ringo Starr: They grumbled. Pooh took them to the platform and wanted to run round at once. But his driver wouldn't let him.
  • Driver: Don't be impatient, Pooh.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh waited and waited. The people got in, the conductor and stationmaster walked up and down, the porter banged the doors and still Randy didn't come. Pooh got more and more excited. Mickey Mouse came to see what was the matter, and the conductor and stationmaster told him about Randy.
  • Mickey: Find another character.
  • Ringo Starr: He ordered.
  • Both: There's only Pooh.
  • Ringo Starr: They said.
  • Mickey: You'll have to do it then, Pooh. Be quick now.
  • Ringo Starr: So Pooh ran round to the front and back down on the coaches ready to start.
  • Driver: Let's not be impatient.
  • Ringo Starr: Said his driver.
  • Driver: We'll wait till everything was ready.
  • Ringo Starr: But Pooh was too excited to listen. What happened then, no one knows. Perhaps they forgot to couple Pooh to the train, or perhaps the Driver pulled the leather by mistake. Anyhow, Pooh started without his coaches. As the pass the signal tower, men waved and shouted, but he didn't stop.
  • Pooh: They're waving because I'm such a splendid bear.
  • Ringo Starr: He thought importantly.
  • Pooh: Randy says it's hard to pull trains, but I think it's easy. Hurry, hurry, hurry!
  • Ringo Starr: He puffed, pretending to be like Mike.
  • Pooh: People had never seen me pulling a train before. It's nice of them to wave.
  • Ringo Starr: And he whistled.
  • Pooh: Peep peep! Thank you.
  • Ringo Starr: Then he came to a signal at danger.
  • Pooh: Bother!
  • Ringo Starr: He thought.
  • Pooh: I must stop, and I was going so nicely too. What a nuisance signals are.
  • Ringo Starr: He blew an angry "Peep peep!" on his whistle. The signalman ran up.
  • Signalman: Hello, Pooh.
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Signalman: What are you doing here?
  • Pooh: I'm pulling the train.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Pooh.
  • Pooh: Can't you see?
  • Signalman: Where are your coaches then?
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh looked back.
  • Pooh: Why bless me.
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Pooh: If we hadn't leave them behind.
  • Signalman: Yes.
  • Ringo Starr: Said the signalman.
  • Signalman: You better go quickly and fetch them.
  • Ringo Starr: Poor Pooh was so sad he nearly cried.
  • Driver: Cheer up.
  • Ringo Starr: Said his driver.
  • Driver: Let's go back quickly and try again. At the station, all the passengers were talking at once. They were telling Mickey Mouse what a bad railway it was. But when Pooh came back, they saw how sad he was and couldn't be cross. He was coupled to the train, and this time he really pulled it. Afterwards, the other characters laughed at Pooh and said...
  • Randy: Look, there's Pooh Bear, who wanted to pull the train, but forgot about the coaches.
  • Ringo Starr: But Pooh had already learned, not to make the same mistake again.

Trouble For Pooh

  • Ringo Starr: Winnie The Pooh wouldn't stop being a nuisance. Night after night, he kept the other Disney characters awake.
  • Pooh: I'm tired of pushing coaches. I wanna see the world.
  • Ringo Starr: The other characters didn't take much notice, for Pooh was a little bear with a long tongue. But one night, Buzz Lightyear came to the shed. He was a kind little character and felt sorry for Pooh.
  • Buzz: I've got some pirates to take home tomorrow. If you take them instead of me, I'll push coaches in the yard.
  • Pooh: Thank you.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Pooh.
  • Pooh: That would be nice.
  • Ringo Starr: Next morning, Buzz and Pooh asked their drivers, and when they said "yes", Pooh ran off happily to find pirates. Now the pirates were silly and noisy. They talked a lot and don't attend to what they are doing. And I'm sorry to say they play tricks on a character who is not used to them. Buzz knew all about the pirates. He warned Pooh to be careful but Pooh was too excited to listen. The shunter fastened the coupling and when the signal dropped, Pooh was ready. The conductor blew his whistle.
  • Pooh: Peep Peep.
  • Ringo Starr: Answered Pooh and started off. But the pirates weren't ready.
  • Pirates: Oh! Oh! Oh!
  • Ringo Starr: They screamed.
  • Pirates: Wait, Pooh, wait!
  • Ringo Starr: But Pooh wouldn't wait.
  • Pooh: Come on come on.
  • Ringo Starr: He puffed.
  • Pirates: All right, all right, don't fuss! All right, don't fuss!
  • Ringo Starr: Grumbled the pirates. Pooh began going faster and faster.
  • Pooh: Whee!
  • Ringo Starr: He whistled, as he rush through Randy's tunnel.
  • Pooh: Hurry, hurry.
  • Ringo Starr: Called Pooh. He was feeling very proud of himself. But the pirates grew crosser and crosser. At last Pooh slowed down as he came to Mike's Hill.
  • Driver: Steady, now, steady.
  • Ringo Starr: Warned the driver, as he reach the top. He began to put on the brakes.
  • Pooh: We're stopping, we're stopping!
  • Ringo Starr: Called Pooh.
  • Pirates: No, no, no!
  • Ringo Starr: Answered the pirates bumping them to each other.
  • Pirates: Go on! Go on!
  • Ringo Starr: Before the driver could stop them they had pushed Pooh down the hill and were rattling and laughing behind them. Poor Pooh tried hard to stop them from making him go too fast.
  • Pooh: Stop pushing, stop pushing!
  • Ringo Starr: He hissed. But the pirates took no notice.
  • Pirates: Go on! Go on!
  • Ringo Starr: They giggled in their silly way.
  • Pooh: There's the station! Oh dear, what shall I do?
  • Ringo Starr: He cried. They rattled straight through and swerved into the goods yard. Pooh shut his eyes.
  • Pooh: I must stop!
  • Ringo Starr: When he opened his eyes, he saw he had stopped just in front of the buffers. There watching him was Mickey Mouse.
  • Mickey: What are you doing here, Pooh?
  • Ringo Starr: He asked.
  • Pooh: I brought Buzz's pirates.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh answered.
  • Mickey: Why did you come so fast?
  • Pooh: I didn't mean to. I was pushed.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Pooh.
  • Mickey: You've got a lot to learn about pirates, Pooh. After pushing them about here for a few weeks you'll know almost as much about them as Buzz. Then you'll be a really useful bear.

Pooh Saves The Day

  • Ringo Starr: Every day, Mickey Mouse came to the station to see the Disney Characters.
  • Mickey Mouse: Hello.
  • Ringo Starr: He always said to Pooh.
  • Mickey Mouse: Don't let the silly pirates tease you. Remember, you have an important job as a special helper in the train yard.
  • Ringo Starr: There were lots of pirates and Pooh worked very hard pushing and pulling them into place. There was also a small coach and two strange things his driver called cranes.
  • Driver: That's the breakdown train.
  • Ringo Starr: He told Pooh.
  • Driver: The cranes are for lifting heavy things like characters and coaches and pirates.
  • Ringo Starr: One day, Pooh was in the yard. Suddenly he heard a character whistling.
  • Zachary: Help! Help!
  • Ringo Starr: A freight train came rushing through much too fast. The character was Zachary and he was frightened. His brake blocks were on fire.
  • Zachary: They're pushing me, they're pushing me.
  • Ringo Starr: He panted.
  • Pirates: On! On!
  • Ringo Starr: Laughed the pirates. Still whistling...
  • Zachary: Help! Help!
  • Ringo Starr: Poor Zachary disappeared.
  • Pooh: I like to teach those pirates a lesson.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Winnie the Pooh. Soon came the alarm.
  • Signalman: Zachary is off the line. The breakdown train quickly.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh was coupled on and off they went. Pooh worked his hardest.
  • Pooh: Hurry, hurry, hurry!
  • Ringo Starr: He puffed. He wasn't pretending to be like Mike. He really meant it.
  • Pooh: Bother those pirates and their tricks. I hope poor Zachary isn't hurt.
  • Ringo Starr: Zachary's driver and fireman were feeling him all over to see if he was hurt.
  • (Cows mooing)
  • Driver: Never mind, Zachary.
  • Ringo Starr: They said.
  • Fireman: It was those silly pirates and your old wooden brakes that caused the accident.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh pushed the breakdown train alongside. Then he pulled away the unhurt pirates.
  • Pirates: Oh, dear. Oh, dear.
  • Ringo Starr: They groaned.
  • Pooh: Serves you right, serves you right.
  • Ringo Starr: Puffed Pooh. He was hard at work puffing backwards and forwards all afternoon.
  • Pooh: This'll teach you a lesson, this'll teach you a lesson.
  • Ringo Starr: He told the pirates. And they answered...
  • Pirates: Yes it will, yes it will.
  • Ringo Starr: They left the broken pirates. Then with two cranes they put Zachary back on the rails. He tried to move, but he couldn't so Pooh helped him back to the shed. Mickey Mouse was waiting anxiously for them.
  • Mickey: Well, Pooh Bear.
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Mickey: I heard all about it and I'm very pleased with you. You're a really useful bear. Zachary shall have some proper brakes and a new coat of paint and you shall have a branch line all to yourself.
  • Pooh: Oh thank you sir.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Pooh. Now Pooh is as happy as can be. He has a branch line and two coaches called Mitchie and Amethyst. He puffs proudly backwards and forwards with them all day. He is never lonely. Buzz and Randy stop quite often and tell him the news. Mike is always in a hurry but never forgets to say...
  • Mike: Boop Boop.
  • Ringo Starr: And Pooh always whistles...
  • Pooh: Peep Peep.
  • Ringo Starr: In return.
