It's clarified, but now I'm not sure whether that metaphor is applied to dormitory life, or his former life of transfers. I've got different native speakers on different sides...but yeah, it sort of emphasizes how much we need staff at this point, since apparently two translators' opinions aren't enough. I'll get my Japanese friends to have a go at it later today as well as my Japanese teacher. It's been bothering me for a while and I was right, the translation might be off. ~tripperazn
//Good to hear your pumped up ^_^. I've got a rough explanation of how to hook text in the 'How To Contribute' link, toss me a message on AIM if you run into any trouble. The most important thing is the extra code to put into AGTH, since otherwise every line you hook needs to be carefully culled of extra characters, an agonizing task. The user code you input into the command line fixes that 95% of the time, but occasionally you'll see extra periods and quotes at the ends of lines, and sometimes it culls too much, but its a million times better than without it. If you get to the point where you're doing your own material, I guess just pick a point deeper into the prologue and let me know where to stop and then leapfrog you. (btw, please check out the 'current issues' heading, if you can help) ~ Trem

As for me, I'd love to just release the patched game as a torrent too, though its not up to me, since I have zero knowledge about that sort of thing. But between me grinding through the script and your edits, I think we'll do just fine. The only reason why I say we need more staff is the sheer volume of text to go through. If its just us, we'll be here all year. The true ending especially is long, and only one additional ero scene. But with a good volume of text built up, people will be more favorable. We might want to set an arbitrary goal... like maybe half the prologue (approximately 3 times what I've got done so far). ~ Trem

We definitely need more staff, it's not that we can't get through it, but without a native speaker, there is no guarantee of the quality of our translations. These games are aimed at people in their late-teens or twenties. It's something at my reading level...if I were native. Half the prologue sounds good though, I think that's fairly realistic. Editing is rather quick, I may have to start translating directly soon. ~tripperazn

Recently I've got in touch with tripperazn-san in the thread for learning japanese there and I offered my help in translating the text as far as my abilities allow to do so. However when I asked for the texts in acceptable form (i.e. extracted from the game) it came to the fact tripperazn doesn't have them at the ready. I personally have already contacted a person who I can refer to if the original text is not quite clear. I'd like to ask you to send me a portion of text (several pages for now) you need to be translated in .doc ASAP. I suggested it should be somewhere further ahead so that out work doesn't overlap. Later I'll be busy with studies and it'll be hard to find time for translation. tripperazn has my email address. You can also PM me at animesuki.com.

As far as I remember the prologue's timeline is about a week or so and 2 days is about 30% of that amount. I suggest somebody decide on which portion of text desired to be translated goes to me and upload a .doc file(or .txt, if .doc is not to your liking) to a file sharing server (like sendspace.com). I guess we can keep in touch here or you can contact me by PM at animesuki or by email.~nikorai

Compiled some script tools for you guys to use. They are uploaded to the Google group. Tools written by rednaxela of VisualNews forums. I really have to ask him how he did it. Enjoy. -jtle

Update: I (amazingly) figured out how it works and managed to get a recompiled fa00010 file. How do I get it back into the data01000.arc though? And what do the numbers before each line mean? The first looks like a hex address, while the second seems to have some relationship with the number of characters on the line. Perhaps they need to be changed as well? ~trem
I don't know how to repack them into the .arc file yet but for testing, all you would need to do is just put the fa00010 file in the same place as BGI.exe and it should work. There is one major problem though, the text might be too long for some parts because English characters are what is called half-width characters and Japanese characters are full-width so longer English text will get cut off. As you can see in my screenshot above, that is not the complete line. It got cut off. So I'm just playing around with the hex addresses to see. -jtle

Hmmmm it works fine here. Tested it extensively last night. Maybe your non-Unicode/regional settings is not set to Japanese? -jtle
Download the fa00010 I've uploaded to the Google Group and put that file in the same directory as BGI.exe. I almost got the text right, it just cuts off some of the longer lines of text.
Edit again, this is the full game not the demo. It should be the exact same except for naming of files and such.
Alright, I think I've gotten everything sorted out now. I'll download the demo to check that everything works on the demo too. I think we're good to go. -jtle

I'm planning to. It *should* be easy since I think they are just images. On that note, anyone good with image editing, since we will undoubtedly need someone or some people for that since I suck at Photoshop. Oh also, I've inserted all the text for scene 1. You can go download the file at the Google Group and playtest it. -jtle
Alright, good news is that every single (I'm quite sure) piece of Japanese text can be translated in the game. This includes all menu and system text and obviously, game text. All of the menu and system text are in images and whoo boy, are there a lot of them. So we need do image editors. -jtle
Ok , last edit of the day I promise. Demo finished downloading and the file I have just uploaded works with the demo. Just place that file in the same directory as BGI.exe. Make sure to install the demo first. -jtle
