Ace and The Flood

  • Alec Baldwin: It had been raining hard for weeks. Ace was feeling miserable. Everywhere was wet, wet, wet. His branch line runs to a village. The water and the river had risen with the rain. Only the great wall known as a dam was stopping the water from overflowing. Rikochet arrived just as Ace was about to inspect the dam for any damage.
  • Rikochet: Driver tells me it may be dangerous up there. Please be careful, Ace.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rikochet.
  • Ace: I'll try.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Ace bravely. Rikochet watched anxiously as Ace trundled away. His journey took him over a wooden bridge at the end of the village. The river surged dangerously beneath it. Superman was inspecting the dam as Ace arrived.
  • Ace's Driver: Be brave Ace.
  • Alec Baldwin: Called his Driver.
  • Ace's Driver: We had to cross to the other side.
  • Alec Baldwin: The dam did not look safe at all. Ace was very worried. Soon, he knew why.
  • Ace's Driver: The dam's breaking up! We must warn everyone!
  • Alec Baldwin: Ace shunted back as fast as his feet would let him. Rikochet was waiting anxiously for Ace by the bridge. The river had risen so high that the bridge was in danger of collapsing.
  • Ace's Driver: The dam's breaking up. We must find high ground.
  • Alec Baldwin: Shouted Ace's driver.
  • Rikochet: Your only chance is to cross the bridge.
  • Alec Baldwin: Called Rikochet.
  • Ace: It doesn't look safe to me.
  • Alec Baldwin: Wailed Ace.
  • Ace's Driver: It's our only chance.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said his driver.
  • Ace's Driver: If the dam breaks, we'll be done for!
  • Alec Baldwin: Ace was halfway across the bridge when disaster struck.
  • (The dam breaks apart)
  • Ace: Help!
  • Alec Baldwin: Called Ace.
  • Rikochet's Driver: We'll follow him on our line. It needs the river further down.
  • Alec Baldwin: As Ace floated helplessly on the floodwaters, they passed a sign that made them shudder: Beware The Waterfall.
  • Ace's Driver: If we go over that waterfall, we're doomed.
  • Alec Baldwin: Then they saw Superman who swopped low and shouted urgently to them.
  • Superman: We're going to drop a rope to you. Attach it to yourself, quickly now!
  • Alec Baldwin: And they did, to one of Ace's hands. Just then, Rikochet arrived. Superman flew over to him.
  • Superman: Catch a rope and pull Ace to safety!
  • Alec Baldwin: He called.
  • (Rikochet with all his might pulls Ace and the bridge to safety)
  • Alec Baldwin: Ace was safe at last. When the floods were over and the dam mended, the villagers had a big party for Ace, hosted by Wilhelmina.
  • Wilhelmina: You were very brave, Ace.
  • Ace: Thanks to Superman.
  • Rikochet: I could never been so brave, Ace.
  • Ace: Oh, I'm sure you would be, but you never know till you tried.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet rather hope he never had to.

Put Upon Rikochet

  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet puffed grumpily into the yards. He was feeling put upon and said so.
  • Rikochet: I feel put upon.
  • Alec Baldwin: He complained to Ash. Ash was confused.
  • Ash: Put upon what? The rails?
  • Rikochet: No, put upon with work. Driver says he is too.
  • Ash: Put upon. What a silly saying.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Ash. But Suzy and Pietra liked it and they sang about it, too.
  • Suzy and Pietra: (singing) Rikochet's been put upon, put upon, put upon. Rikochet's been put upon, poor old Rikochet.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet is being put upon.
  • Rikochet: I am, I am, I am.
  • Alec Baldwin: He collected metal from the foundry, coal from the yards, flour from the mills, rock from the quarries and fuel from the depot. Then he delivered it all to the docks. Next he collected some empty Beedrill.
  • Beedrill: Who's this dirty little character.
  • Alec Baldwin: Cried the Beedrill.
  • Beedrill: We want Ash or Ozzy.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet ignored them.
  • Rikochet: Put upon, put upon. That's what I am.
  • Alec Baldwin: That night all the characters laughed at him.
  • Ash: We can see what's put upon you.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Ash.
  • Wilhelmina: Silence!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Wilhelmina.
  • Wilhelmina: Rikochet, you done a good day's work. Now get a good night's rest.
  • Rikochet: Yes ma'am, thank you ma'am.
  • Alec Baldwin: Next morning, he took some Beedrill to the coal yards. Then he had to push some empty Beedrill to the mine shaft. When he arrived, there was trouble. The foreman spoke to his driver.
  • Foreman: The Beedrill are stuck in the mechanism. All they need is a good push.
  • Rikochet's Driver: We'll do it right away.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet shunted back to were a large canvas barrier was used to protect his line from loose rocks. Rikochet charged into the line of Beedrill too fast and too hard.
  • Rikochet: Oh, no.
  • Alec Baldwin: Gasped Rikochet. The Beedrill broke free, but ran out of control to the mines below.
  • Beedrill: On, on, faster, faster!
  • Alec Baldwin: The silly Beedrill yelled. Then there was trouble again.
  • (The Beedrill hit the pole and we hear a siren and the mine rumbling)
  • Miner: Get out of here fast! The mine's collapsing!
  • (The mine explodes with impact)
  • Rikochet's Driver: We'll just have to make a run for it, Rikochet!
  • Alec Baldwin: Called his driver.
  • Rikochet: There's going to be an avalanche!
  • Alec Baldwin: Wailed Rikochet. And he was right. Worse still, the track he was on began to crumble.
  • Rikochet: Oh, help!
  • Alec Baldwin: Wailed Rikochet. Then he remembered something he had seen earlier.
  • Rikochet: There's the canvas barrier by the track. That might save us.
  • Alec Baldwin: They were just in time.
  • (The avalanche starts to bury Rikochet completely)
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet was right. The canvas did indeed save them, but the miners didn't know that.
  • Foreman: The avalanche has buried an engine and its crew.
  • Alec Baldwin: Shouted the foreman.
  • Foreman: We must help them.
  • Alec Baldwin: When Rikochet had been rescued, Wilhelmina spoke to his driver and fireman then to Rikochet.
  • Wilhelmina: Driver told me how brave you were, Rikochet. As a reward you will be repainted at the works.
  • Rikochet: Oh thank you, ma'am.
  • Alec Baldwin: When he returned, Rikochet's coat glistened in the sun.
  • Ash: I'm sorry I teased you, Rikochet.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Ash.
  • Ash: You were certainly put upon by that avalanche.
  • Rikochet: Yes indeed. But just look at my new coat of paint. Now I don't mind that being put upon me.

Horrid Thug Doll

  • Alec Baldwin: It was a busy time at the Cartoon University. All the characters were working hard, pushing and pulling Beedrill about. One day, Rikochet was late. Ludo was quick to critisize.
  • Ludo: These ships can't be kept waiting. They have important cargo. If they miss the tides, they will be delayed at the docks. You should look up to the ships and show more respect. You are after all only little.
  • Rikochet: We've got too much work.
  • Alec Baldwin: Huffed Rikochet.
  • Ludo: Then perhaps a thug doll should do the job.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet was shocked. He told the other characters what Ludo had said.
  • Al: Stuff and nonsense!
  • Alec Baldwin: Snorted Al.
  • Virgil: We characters rerun this island.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Virgil.
  • Rikochet: What if a thug doll does arrive?
  • Alec Baldwin: I'm afraid he did. Along with two more. Ludo was delighted.
  • Ludo: Hey you down there. Your jobs done now. These thug dolls are taking over. One of them wants to talk to you.
  • Alec Baldwin: The thug doll was very rude.
  • Thug Tigger: What's that steaming lump of scrap iron doing here? Be off with you!
  • Rikochet: Scrap iron? Steaming scrap iron? Pah!
  • Alec Baldwin: A little later, Rikochet met Ash and Al. Another thug doll was being rude to them. Then he saw Rikochet.
  • Thug Pooh: Oh, look. It's a little green goblin on wheels. Ha! You'd be scrapped. Just you wait and see.
  • Ash: Well, bust my boiler. What a horrid thug doll.
  • Alec Baldwin: Explained Ash.
  • Al: Despicable!
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed Al. The next character to meet a thug doll was Ace.
  • Thug Tigger: Well, well, well. No wonder this railway's a mess. You belong into this museum, not working at the quarry.
  • Ace: I might look old, but I'm really useful.
  • Thug Tigger: Useful? Pah!
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied the thug doll.
  • Thug Tigger: Just you toodle off.
  • Ace: Toodle?!
  • Alec Baldwin: Spluttered Ace.
  • Ace's Driver: Come on, Ace.
  • Alec Baldwin: Interrupted his driver.
  • Ace's Driver: Don't bother to argue with him. We'll go to the flour mill instead.
  • Alec Baldwin: But when they arrived at the flour mill, Ace was shocked to see yet another thug doll.
  • Ace: What are you doing here?
  • Thug Piglet: We three are doing your work now. You're too slow.
  • Alec Baldwin: The foreman spoke to Ace's driver.
  • Foreman: I'm sorry. Times are changing I'm afraid.
  • Ace's Driver: Ace might me old.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied his driver.
  • Ace's Driver: But he's reliable. Come on, Ace. We'll go to the farms. They'll still use us.
  • Alec Baldwin: Ace trundled sadly away. His railway ran through a narrow gorge. But vehicles had take a steep and dangerous road. When Ace arrived, he saw the thug doll from the quarry again. It was loaded with rock.
  • Ace: That thug doll's in trouble.
  • Alec Baldwin: Thought Ace. And he was.
  • (Thug Tigger falls down the gorge and towards the ground leaving Ace speechless)
  • Alec Baldwin: The driver was thrown clear.
  • Driver: Rotten roads.
  • Alec Baldwin: He muttered. The wrecked thug doll was taking to the docks. Rikochet looked at the thug doll.
  • Rikochet: What's this lump of steaming scrap iron?
  • Alec Baldwin: He teased.
  • Thug Tigger: I'll be back.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied the thug doll.
  • Thug Tigger: So you can wipe that silly smile off your smokebox.
  • Rikochet: Ha!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rikochet and wheeshed him loudly. Then Martin Mystery arrived. He towing the thug doll from the flour mill.
  • Ace's Driver: What happened?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked Ace's driver.
  • Cander: He was overloaded with flour.
  • Alec Baldwin: Cander replied.
  • Cander: And he broke down.
  • Ace: Not very useful now are you?
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Ace.
  • Thug Dolls: Grr!
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied the thug dolls. Then Al whistled excitedly.
  • Al: They're bringing in the third thug doll on a barge. What happened to that one?
  • Alec Baldwin: Al asked.
  • Tow Truck Man: Stupid Thug Doll was reversing and fell straight into the sea.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said the Tow Truck Man. Later, Ash arrived. He looked at the three thug dolls and laughed.
  • Ash: Well, well, well. The brothers grimm. Smashed, broken and sunk.
  • Alec Baldwin: The thug dolls didn't return, and the characters now work even harder to make sure they'll ever learn.

Bye Jack!

  • Alec Baldwin: One morning, Jack Spicer was waiting for Rikochet to take him to a new workplace. Jack was being rude to Peter and Alex.
  • Jack: You're just worn out wheels on worn out rails!
  • Alex: You need rocks for your roads.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Alex.
  • Alex: And we're helping you.
  • Jack: I need to flatten little characters in the scrapyard.
  • Alec Baldwin: Retorted Jack. Then Rikochet arrived to take Jack away. He was still rebelling.
  • Jack: Railways are no good! Turn them into roads!
  • Alec Baldwin: The little characters were pleased to see him go. Jack grumbled all the way to the old branch line. He was going to turn it into a road. When they arrived, Jack was rude again.
  • Jack: Bumpy ride on rotten rails. I'm glad it's over.
  • Rikochet: So am I.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rikochet.
  • Jack: Huh!
  • Alec Baldwin: Huffed Jack. Rikochet was still fuming when he met Ash.
  • Ash: What's up, Rikochet?
  • Rikochet: It's Jack. He makes me feel down.
  • Ash: Just ignore him.
  • Alec Baldwin: Puffed Ash. Jack was now enjoying himself.
  • Jack: Ripping up rails!
  • Alec Baldwin: He chortled.
  • Jack: What a life. What did you think of this, Ash?
  • Alec Baldwin: Ash took no notice. Jack felt insulting.
  • Jack: You're a useless blue puffball!
  • Alec Baldwin: But Ash didn't hear.
  • Jack: I'll show him who's boss!
  • Alec Baldwin: At last, the workmen reached the level crossing.
  • Workman: What shall we do here?
  • Jack: Tear it up, tarmacing.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Jack. So they did but not properly and Jack knew it. Later, Ash was travelling home on the same line. He was pulling Beedrill filled with vegetables. The signalman had forgotten to warn his driver about the crossing.
  • Ash: That's nice. We don't need to stop.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Ash happily.
  • Ash's Driver: Yes we do.
  • Alec Baldwin: Called his driver. But it was too late.
  • (Ash slides off the rails, rolls down a field and crashes into a barn)
  • Alec Baldwin: Next day, Rikochet told Terry all about Jack.
  • Terry: Huh.
  • Alec Baldwin: Snorted Terry.
  • Terry: You're just a small character. That's why he's rude to you. He wouldn't dare cause me any trouble.
  • Alec Baldwin: Jack had been taken to some yards to work. Ozzy arrived with a train of empty Beedrill. Jack was blocking his way and a Beedrill was stuck on the main line.
  • Ozzy: Let me through.
  • Alec Baldwin: Demanded Ozzy.
  • Jack: You'll just have to wait.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Jack.
  • Ozzy: There's no time to wait. I must clear my Beedrill from the main line to let Terry through.
  • Jack: Then you'll had to wait too.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Jack. Ozzy's driver went to complain to the stationmaster. But the signalman had set the signal to allow Terry to speed through. His passengers with singing his praises and he was making express time.
  • Terry: I'm the greatest. Just watch me fly by.
  • Alec Baldwin: He whistled long and loud as he approached the station. Suddenly, he saw a Beedrill on the line ahead.
  • Terry: Get out of my way!
  • Alec Baldwin: But the Beedrill wouldn't move until Terry forced it...
  • (Terry sends a Beedrill flying into the air and it lands onto the ground)
  • Alec Baldwin: accident. Terry was worried that Wilhelmina would be cross. She was but not with Terry.
  • Wilhelmina: Whoever cause this disturbance will have me to answer to.
  • Alec Baldwin: And she did, a few days later.
  • Ash: Look who's here.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Ash. Jack had been found out by Wilhelmina and punished. He looked miserable.
  • Rikochet: Now we'll get some peace and last.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Rikochet.
  • Jack: I wanna get rolling again. But I had to wait a whole week till I do.
  • Ash: And then you'll be just as rude as ever. Eh, Jack?
  • Jack: I hope not. Don't you?

Something In The Air

  • Alec Baldwin: One day, Ash was at the keyside of a small village. Fish were being loaded into his Beedrill. The work took a long time, the fishermen were using old equipment and Ash was worried.
  • Ash: I'm going to be late for Virgil at the docks. He won't like this. Please hurry up.
  • Alec Baldwin: Ash was rudely interrupted.
  • (The crate containing fish inside falls on top of Ash)
  • Alec Baldwin: His driver and fireman laughed.
  • Ash: Phew!
  • Alec Baldwin: Sniffed Ash.
  • Ash: What a pong!
  • Alec Baldwin: He was glad when they were speeding along the beautiful coastal run. Then, they saw a man waving a red flag.
  • Ash: What's the matter now?
  • Man: High tides are damaging the track.
  • Alec Baldwin: Reported the man.
  • Man: I've marked the spot.
  • Ash's Driver: We'll go and inspect.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said the Driver.
  • Ash's Driver: It would be dangerous for heavy characters like Virgil.
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed the driver.
  • Ash's Driver: But for Ash, it's safe enough.
  • Alec Baldwin: The guard left a red oil lamp by the damaged track to warn characters.
  • Guard: When we get to the docks, I'll tell them to close the line.
  • Alec Baldwin: Virgil was waiting for Ash's Beedrill.
  • Virgil: Pah! You're late and that smell is making me ill!
  • Ash: It's the fish!
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Ash.
  • Ash: And there's danger on the rails. That's why we're late.
  • Virgil: Pah! You're the only danger on the rails, Ash. Now stop wasting time and get my Beedrill hitched to my train.
  • Alec Baldwin: Ash's driver and fireman were in the yard master's office when they heard Virgil's whistle. He was steaming out of the station with his long heavy train called The Flying Kipper.
  • Ash's Driver: What rude is Virgil taking tonight?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked the Driver.
  • Yard Master: The coastal run. It's the quickest.
  • Ash's Driver: But I told you!
  • Alec Baldwin: Gasped the driver.
  • Ash's Driver: That's dangerous for a big engine like Virgil!
  • Alec Baldwin: The yard master quickly phoned the signalman. Virgil roared past the signalbox.
  • Virgil: I'll soon make up for lost time.
  • Alec Baldwin: The signalman couldn't hear the warning. By the time he did, Virgil was far away in a cloud of steam. But when Virgil reached the coastal track, his hopes for a fast run were dashed. Fog floated everywhere.
  • Virgil: I can't see!
  • Alec Baldwin: Cried Virgil. Nor could his driver. And when he could, it was too late.
  • (Virgil falls down into the deep water)
  • Alec Baldwin: As soon as the tide was high enough, Virgil was craned out of the water.
  • Wilhelmina: Characters don't swim, Virgil. You were meant to deliver fish not swim with them. You should know that by now.
  • Virgil: Yes ma'am, I'm sorry ma'am.
  • Alec Baldwin: When Virgil arrived at the docks, Ludo looked down on him.
  • Ludo: My my, Virgil. I expect you'll have some fishy tales to tell. But take my advice, have a long hosedown first.
  • Alec Baldwin: But there was worse to come.
  • Boy 1: Look! They've caught all this fish and a green whale too.
  • Boy 2: It's not a whale, it's a monster.
  • Alec Baldwin: Virgil was most upset. Ash now felt sorry for Virgil.
  • Ash: Come on. Your driver says it's time for a nice washdown. Then you'll feel much better.
  • Alec Baldwin: And Virgil did.
  • Ash: I'm sorry I was rude to you, Ash.
  • Ash: That's all right. But can you smell something?
  • Virgil: W-W-What?
  • Ash: Fresh air.
  • Virgil: Oh yes.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Virgil happily.

Drix's Find

  • Alec Baldwin: Drix and his dog partner Scooby like working in the big yards. But one morning, Scooby noticed that Drix was unhappy. He decided to find out why.
  • Scooby: Uh, excuse me, Drix. It seems to me that things are not well with you, if you forgive for mentioning it.
  • Drix: You're quite right, Scooby. All I do is shunt these Beedrill onto the turntable. I longed for a nice run. It's what an engine really means.
  • Scooby: Uh, quite so, Drix. May I suggest that you speak to Wilhelmina about your problems.
  • Alec Baldwin: But Drix said nothing. He just grew unhappier and he was rough with the Beedrill.
  • Beedrill: You're no good, Drix, you're dangerous. We want Rikochet.
  • Drix: Rikochet's far too busy to be bothered with the likes of you.
  • Alec Baldwin: And Drix bumped the Beedrill hard.
  • (The Beedrill fall into the turntable)
  • Workman: You silly character!
  • Alec Baldwin: Shouted a workman.
  • Workman: It'll take a long time to repair this turntable which'll cause confusion and delay!
  • Alec Baldwin: That night, Wilhelmina arrived.
  • Wilhelmina: Drix, you had caused confusion. I thought you can control Beedrill. You should work the mail train for a while. Maybe the night air will clear your smokebox.
  • Drix: Yes ma'am, sorry ma'am.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Drix sadly.
  • Driver: Cheer up, old chap.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said his driver.
  • Driver: The mail train run is a fine run for an engine like you.
  • Alec Baldwin: Drix smiled, but he still felt he had left everyone down. His driver took him along the coastal run with the mail train. The fresh air couldn't help but brighten Drix's spirits. They made good speed until it was time to collect some important mail from Superman.
  • Drix: Come on, Superman.
  • Alec Baldwin: At last Superman landed.
  • Superman: Sorry I'm late, great western. Had any uh bit of a problems with one of my arms. Kept letting me down when I was uh meant to be up. You know how it is.
  • Driver: We know that we'll be late for our first run.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Drix's driver. Soon, they were on their way again. Ahead was a red signal light. Drix didn't realized that the signalman had dozed off. Drix whistled several times, but the signal stayed red.
  • Driver: There must be something wrong with that signal. We'll go slowly and stop by the signalbox.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said his driver. But they never reached it. The points before the signalbox were switched to an old track. They were going the wrong way. Drix's fireman was concered.
  • Fireman: We need to find the watertower soon.
  • Alec Baldwin: Instead they saw an old station. Disaster lay ahead.
  • (Drix crashes into a shed)
  • Alec Baldwin: Meanwhile, Wilhelmina was worried.
  • Wilhelmina: Drix has not returned. We'll send out a search party.
  • Alec Baldwin: Soon she was high in the sky with Superman.
  • Wilhelmina: There they are.
  • Driver: It wasn't Drix's fault.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sighed the driver.
  • Wilhelmina: I'm aware of that. I'm just glad to see you were all safe.
  • Alec Baldwin: Then she saw something. It was an empty old house beside the station. She went to inspect it. When she returned, he spoke to Drix.
  • Wilhelmina: You have found another attraction for our island. We'll make this house as good as new and visitors can have tea and prophets there.
  • Drix: Hmm.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sighed Drix.
  • Drix: Getting lost can be interesting but being found can be much nicer. Especially what a character feels really useful.
