Treatment[]

Chemotherapy -Given every 3 weeks for 42 weeks. Inpatient for a 3-day admit, and the next treatment requires a 6-day admit.

Doxirubicin
Vinblastin
Gleevac

Surgery -Took 8 hours. Operated on left lung and was unable to remove the tumor with the scope, so made a 6 inch incision and was able then to get it out. Surgeon able to feel around to see what the rest of the lung was like and did not feel any additional tumors. Next he scoped out liver area. There he found the tumor sitting on the bottom of his diaphram. He then made a large cut from the diaphram to the lower pelvis. He was able to remove it (the size of an adult hand) and put a gortex patch on his diaphram. While he had that part of the diaphram open, the surgeon felt on the right side of his lungs and again no tumors.

Lastly the surgeon worked on the main tumor in the lower pelvis. It took a while to get it off of things. The main tumor was stuck to was the colon. The surgeon took that part out and then reattached it. He also discovered several small tumors just floating around and was able to get all of them. The surgery went very well.

All accessible tumors were radiated during surgery that they could not remove. Radiated around the sites to help kill the undetectable or otherwise non-removable cancer cells

Radiation -received 21 days of treatment. Radiated from chest to lower abdomen. Decided to do 10 additional radiation treatments.

Stem Cell Transplant
