Narrator: Grandpa Abe Simpson likes keeping the other narrow-gauge characters busy, even some of them are faster than him like Franklin and Rabbit. And he normally tends to remind the younger ones of the times when he, Cat and Bear were on the Mid-TV Land Railway. One day he was telling Cat, Bear and Fox about some of those particular times.
Grandpe Abe: And so there was the time I saved Cat from falling off a mountainside, and the reason why I bothered after he'd been so rude was because he'd just had a new coat then. It would had been a pity if he'd rolled down the mountain and spoiled it.
Cat: Why yes, Gransimpson. I remember that very well.
Bear: And you remember what happened to me back then don't you?
Grandpa Abe: Yes, Bear. I played a trick on you when you thought I'd broken down. Boy, was that funny.
Fox: Yeah, I guess so.
Grandpa Abe: And then last month, I gave you three youngens a Do It Yourself lesson to build a new house.
Bear: And Matt and CatDog attended your class as well, remember.
Grandpa Abe: Yes, that's right.
Fox: And I obviously bet Owl was glad he didn't have to attend your class, seeing as how he does a lot of oddjobs around the land.
Grandpa Abe: That's right Fox. I didn't need to teach Owl if he's that clever.
Narrator: Later, Grandpa Abe was using the three fillies, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo to deliver passengers to Crovan's Gate Station. And just as soon as the passengers had caught a standard-gauge train, Mr. Owl came to see him.
Mr. Owl: Grandpa Abe, you've done a great job working with old and new characters for the past few decades. It's a shame you don't get to work as often as you used to these days. So I have decided you shall go to work at Ulfstead Castle for the next week or so. And there is a surprise for you when you get there so you're to go right away.
Grandpa Abe: Thanks Mr. Owl. I can't wait to start my new job for the week.
Narrator: So Grandpa Abe left the fillies in the siding and set off for Ulfstead Castle. The surprise was his current grace and old friend, Merlin.
Merlin: Ah, Abe. It's good to see you after all this time.
Grandpa Abe: Well, if it isn't my grace, Merlin. Hi there Merlin. Long time, no see.
Merlin: I know, I've missed you an awful lot as the years have gone by. But yes, welcome to Ulfstead Castle. Oh, and I'd like you to come and meet my characters, Tanya, Uncle Chuck and Grandpa Phil.
Grandpa Abe: Boyo, I've never seen characters like you before.
Uncle Chuck: So you're Abe Simpson are you? It's good to finally meet you. I'm Uncle Chuck, also known as the rocket hedgehog.
Grandpa Phil: And I'm Grandpa Phil the Coffeepot Man.
Grandpa Abe: And where's this Tanya?
Tanya: Here I am! Hello Grandpa Abe.
Grandpa Abe: Hello you three. Can't wait to start work with you guys.
Merlin: So Grandpa Abe, can you please work with Tanya for the first part of your visit?
Grandpa Abe: Certainly Merlin.
Narrator: So Grandpa Abe worked happily with Tanya for the first few days of his stay at Ulfstead Castle, but on occasions he was sent out to help Grandpa Phil and Uncle Chuck, when it was really necessary. Meanwhile, back at the Blue Mountain Quarry, the other narrow-gauge characters learnt from Mr. Owl that Grandpa Abe was staying at the castle grounds for a week, and the Owl Controller had even said on the phone to the Earl that his other characters were making excellent progress.
Mr. Owl: All the same, it will be good when Grandpa Abe gets back.
Narrator: At the end of the week, Grandpa Abe was thanking his grace for all the time he had spend with him over the past week.
Merlin: Oh and before you go, I have another surprise for you, which I think you'll find will be even better.
Grandpa Abe: Really, what's that?
Narrator: It was then that another narrow-gauge character puffed up next to Grandpa Abe. He looked rather similar, except he was a bear.
Merlin: It's your brother, Uncle Rusty.
Uncle Rusty: Hello big bro. Sorry, we've been apart for a very long time. Well, it's good to finally reunite with you.
Grandpa Abe: Hello Uncle Rusty. Lovely to see you again.
Uncle Chuck: Congratulations you two on finally getting together again.
Grandpa Abe: Thanks Merlin. And I hope I can come back to work here again very soon.
Merlin: I'm sure I can think of something. And bye for now.
Grandpa Abe: Come on little bro. It's home we go.
Narrator: And so, Grandpa Abe and Uncle Rusty puffed back to the Blue Mountain Quarry. All the characters were glad to see Grandpa Abe come back, and even more delighted to hear about his reunion with Uncle Rusty.
Bear: Gransimpson, is that your brother, Uncle Rusty?
Grandpa Abe: That's right, Bear.
Mr. Owl: Well it's good to see you after all this time, Uncle Rusty.
Uncle Rusty: Thanks sir. I was at the works during the second half of Abe's visit, having a restoration and a fresh coat of paint. So now I look even better than I did before.
Narrator: And all the characters gave a chorus of cheers and whistles for Grandpa Abe and Uncle Rusty.
Grandpa Abe: Home sweet home Uncle Rusty!
Uncle Rusty: Thank you Gransimpson.
