A Message From The Editor
Unless you’ve been under a rock, in a coma, or are crew member of either HMS Erebus or SSN Terror, you’ve probably noticed that things in the world aren’t quite what they used to be. Now, on the off-chance that you’re a member of one of the aforementioned groups, I’ll spell out the world’s predicament for you: the dead have returned and are now roaming the earth.
By the dead, I mean the reanimated corpses of humans- zombies or, as the scientific community prefers, Homo sapiens carrionus. While the thought of swarms of these rotting mockeries of humanity shambling across the countryside, devouring all that cross their path, sounds terrifying, let me assure you, it’s not that bad.
In popular fiction prior to the First Outbreak, it was thought that a massive undead outbreak would spell the end of civilization. Humanity in a panic would turn upon itself and quickly succumb to the rotting hordes of our own dead. Now, I acknowledge that there were some isolated incidents which followed that general outline. However, by and large, civilization did not collapse and progress continues unabated.
How is that possible, you ask? It happened because humanity is incredibly adaptable. Did prehistoric man capitulate to the Ice Age? No, he learned to create fire and wear fur! When the Rocky Mountains impeded Western Expansion, did man give up? No, man dynamited Nature into submission! And so it was with the worldwide zombie pandemic-- humanity adapted.
The goal of this wiki is to provide a chronicle of these changes, as well as to provide useful information for living in this brave new world we are forging. If you, the reader, feel that an article is factually deficient in some way, please feel free to make the necessary changes.
