Narrator: "Rosie is a tank engine who lives at the big station on the Island of Sodor. She's a cheeky little engine with six small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler, and a short stumpy dome.
She's a fussy little, too. Always pulling coaches about, ready for the big engines to take on long journeys.
And when trains come in, she pulls the empty coaches away so that the big engines can go and rest.
Rosie thinks no engine works as hard as she does. She loves playing tricks on them, inculding Molly, the biggest and proudest engine of them all. Rosie likes whistling rudely at her."
Rosie: "Wake up, lazy bones! Why don't you work hard, like me?"
Narrator: "One day, after pulling the big express, Molly arrived back at the siding, vey tired. She was just going to sleep when Rosie came up in her cheeky way."
Rosie: "Wake up, lazy bones, do some hard work for a change!" You can't catch me!"
Narrator: "And off she ran, laughing.
Instead of going to sleep again, Molly thought how she could get back at Rosie.
One Morning, Rosie wouldn't wake up. Her driver and fireman couldn't make her start. Her fire was out and there was not enough steam. It was nearly time for the express. People were waiting, but the coaches weren't ready.
At last, Rosie started."
Rosie: "Oh, dear, oh, dear!"
Narrator: She yawned.
She fussed into the station, where Molly is waiting."
Molly: "Hurry up, you!"
Narrator: "Said Molly."
Rosie: "Hurry yourself!"
Narrator: "Replied Rosie.
Molly began making her plan."
Narrator: "Said Molly,"
Molly: "I will."
Narrator: "And almost before the coaches stopped moving, Molly reversed quickly and was coupled on."
Molly: "Get in quickly, please."
Narrator: "She whistled.
Rosie usually pushed behind the big trains to help them start, but she was always uncoupled first. This time, Molly started so quickly, they forgot to uncouple Rosie. Molly's chance had come."
Molly: "Come on, come on,"
Narrator: "Puffed Molly to the coaches.
The train went faster and faster. Too fast for Rosie. She wanted to stop, but she couldn't!"
Rosie: "Peep, peep! Stop, stop!"
Molly: "Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
Narrator: "Laughed Molly."
Coaches: "You can't get away, you can't get away!"
Narrator: "Laughed the coaches.
Poor Rosie was going faster then she had ever gone before, She was out of breath, and her wheels hurt her, but she had to go on."
Rosie: "I shall never be the same again."
Narrator: "She thought sadly."
Rosie: "My wheels will be quite worn out."
Narrator: "At last, they stopped at a station.
Rosie was uncoupled, and she felt very silly and exhausted.
Next, she went on to a turntable, thinking of everyone laughing at her.
And then she ran onto a siding, out of the way."
Molly: "Well, little Rosie,"
Narrator: Chuckled Molly."
Molly: "Now you know what hard work means, don't you?"
Narrator: "Poor Rosie couldn't anwser. She had no breath. She just puffed slowly away to rest, and had a long, long drink.
She went home very slowly, and was careful afterwards never to be cheeky to Molly again."
