Narrator: Rosie is a little pink engine who works on the Island of Sodor. She is friends with almost every engine on the island. She's friends with Stephen and Millie up at Ulfstead Castle.

Rosie: Hello, Millie. Hi, Stephen.

Millie: Bonjour, Rosie.

Stephen: Hello.

Narrator: She is also friends with Duck and Oliver on the Little Western line.

Oliver: Morning, Rosie.

Rosie: Good morning, Oliver. Hello, Duck.

Duck: Hello, Rosie.

Narrator: Rosie is even friends with some of the diesels on Sodor, like Mavis at Ffarquhar Quarry and Salty at Brendam Docks. But her best friend of all is Thomas the Tank Engine.

Rosie: Hello, Thomas.

Thomas: Hello, Rosie.

Narrator: Thomas has been Rosie's best friend since the time she helped him when Thomas got stuck in a landslide near High Farm. And the two of them always try to help each other whenever they can. One day, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Rosie.

Sir Topham Hatt: Rosie, I have an important job for you.

Rosie: What is it, sir?

Sir Topham Hatt: A new diesel is coming here on my railway on trial. I'd like you to show her around and work with her for a few days.

Rosie: What's the new diesel's name, sir?

Sir Topham Hatt: Her name is Brenda. She's not the easiest engine to get along with, Rosie. So please make her feel welcome. She should be here in another five minutes.

Rosie: Thank you, sir. I'll be very nice to her.

Narrator: Sir Topham Hatt left. And about five minutes later, Rosie heard an unfamiliar horn.

Rosie: That must be Brenda.

Narrator: Sure enough, an unfamiliar diesel was coming into the yard. She stopped nearby Rosie.

Rosie: Hello. I'm Rosie. You must be Brenda. Sir Topham Hatt told me that I was work with you.

Brenda: You mean I have to work with an engine who wears a bad color?

Rosie: Excuse me?

Brenda: That pink color looks terrible on you. How can your controller even look at you? And why do they even call you 'Rosie'? A better name for you would be 'Pinkie'.

Rosie: My controller, Sir Topham Hatt cares for all of his engines, no matter what color they are!

Brenda: Oh, really?

Rosie: We have to get to work now. We have some trucks to deliver to Ffarquhar, and then we have to deliver more to Vicarstown.

Brenda: Well, Pinkie, if I'm to work with you, you go at the back of the train. I don't want to look at your pink coat.

Narrator: Rosie felt proud to wear pink, and she wanted to tell Brenda that she was being rude. But she had told Sir Topham Hatt that she would be very nice to Brenda. So she said nothing. On the way to Ffarquhar, Rosie and Brenda passed through Knapford station. Sir Topham Hatt was there.

Sir Topham Hatt: Ah, Brenda, I see you're now working with Rosie. Are you two getting along alright?

Brenda: Oh, yes, sir. Rosie let me go in front so I could look around the railway.

Sir Topham Hatt: That's great. Carry on.

Narrator: Rosie couldn't believe it. Brenda had lied to Sir Topham Hatt.

Rosie: How dare you lie to Sir Topham Hatt!

Brenda: If you tell him, I'll push you right into the sea! Don't say a word. Got that, Pinkie?

Rosie: Um, yes, Brenda.

Narrator: Rosie said nothing all the way to Ffarquhar. And she didn't say anything all the way to Vicarstown either. She was too afraid to say anything to Brenda.

Brenda: Honestly, I don't know why your controller has more steam engines than diesels. Diesels are better and more cleaner than you dirty steam engines.

Diesel: That's what I say too. Diesels are new and revolutionary. Steam engines are only second best.

Brenda: Who are you?

Diesel: I'm Diesel. I was the first diesel to arrive on this railway.

Brenda: My name's Brenda.

Diesel: Well, Brenda, how would you like to spend the night at the dieselworks with me and the other diesels? We'd be happy to have a new diesel there.

Brenda: I'd like that. I'll be there soon.

(Diesel leaves)

Brenda: Pinkie, if don't get rid of that pink coat by tomorrow morning, I'm going to push you into the sea!

(Brenda leaves)

Rosie: (sighs)

Narrator: Rosie had never felt so sad before. She puffed slowly home.

Thomas: Edward, does Rosie seem sad to you?

Edward: She must have had a bad day or something. Why don't you go talk to her, Thomas?

Thomas: All right. (Puffs over to Rosie) Rosie, is everything okay?

Narrator: Rosie looked up at her friend, Thomas. She wasn't sure if she could tell another engine about her problem with Brenda. But on the other buffer, Thomas had stood up for Rosie before. So maybe he could help her.

Rosie: I've been having bully troubles with this new diesel named Brenda. She insulted my name and color, and she said that if I don't get rid of it, she'll push me into the sea.

Thomas: I've had bully troubles before too, Rosie. But most of those times, I just stood up to them, and that's what you should do to Brenda.

Rosie: I don't know, Thomas. She did sounded serious when she said she'd push me into the sea.

Thomas: Bullies always try to scare others like that. You just need to be stand up to her and tell her that you've had enough of her rudeness.

Rosie: Well, okay, I'll try it. Thanks, Thomas.

Thomas: You're welcome.

Narrator: So the next morning, Rosie waited for Brenda to arrive at the yards. Before long, she heard Brenda's horn, and the dark blue diesel came into the yard.

Brenda: Hey, Pinkie, you are here?

Rosie: It's Rosie! Not Pinkie!

(Brenda comes towards Rosie)

Brenda: So you are here. And you still have your pink coat of paint. Come with me now!

Rosie: No!

Brenda: I said I was going to push you into the sea if you didn't get rid of that pink coat. Now come!

Rosie: No! You leave me alone! I've had it with your rudeness! If you don't stop bullying me, I'll push you off the rails!

Brenda: What? No!

(Brenda reverses into a siding and breaks the buffers)

Brenda: Now look what you made me do! I'll tell your controller you pushed me into this siding, and he'll never know about me bullying you and that I lied to him yesterday about us.

Sir Topham Hatt: (Clears throat)

Brenda: Uh, hello, sir. I was just telling Rosie that she needs to be more careful with other engines and...

Sir Topham Hatt: Brenda, you're already in a lot of trouble. Don't make it worse by telling more lies to me.

Brenda: Oh, but, sir. I...

Sir Topham Hatt: Brenda, I heard every word you said, and I'm very disappointed in your behavior. You've been a bully to Rosie, and you lied to me yesterday. I want you off my railway immediately. I will not have dishonest engines and bullies on my railway.

Brenda: Yes, sir.

(Brenda leaves)

Sir Topham Hatt: Rosie, you were very brave to stand up to Brenda like that. I'm proud of you.

Rosie: Thank you, sir.

Narrator: Rosie was glad that Brenda was gone, but she's even more glad to have a friend like Thomas.

Rosie: Thanks for your advice again, Thomas. You're a very good friend indeed.

Thomas: No problem. I'm always happy to help out a friend whose having bully troubles.
