This page documents an official policy on Scratchpad. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow. Except for minor edits, please make use of the discussion page to propose changes to this policy.

Wikia co-founder, Angela Beesley, created the Wikia Scratchpad in January 2005 as a place for users to work on small collaborations, and to make mini wikis for trial before requesting a real Wikia site.

Today, it is no longer necessary to try out a wiki at Scratchpad before being able to have a full-fledged Wikia wiki. Today, anyone can create a free-standing Wikia wiki just by clicking → here
