Lyrics

The Announcer: And now, ladies and gentlemen, Big Bird!

Big Bird: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much! Um...
The friends of Mr. Henson has gathered here tonight
to present our little tribute to Jim.
We've been conferring and rehearsing,
making sure we get it right.
So the number would be worthy of him.
For the last few months, we haven't been together.
Because we all seemed to work in different places.
So I'm a little apprehensive as to whether
we'll all wind up with eggs on our faces.
They each send a video to give us a clue
as to exactly what they were planning to do.
Now the first videocassette came from the Muppet Show gang in London.
Roll the videocassette, Dwight.

Snuffy: Jim is so wise and witty,
because he likes my jokes.

Everyone: Wrong.

Herry Monster: Jim is the hippest dude that I know.

Everyone: No.

Baby Bear: Jim lives more dangerously than most other folks.

Everyone: Oh?

Grover: He was my companion,
skiing down the Grand Canyon.

Snuffy: You know, Jim doesn't know the meaning of the word fear.
He doesn't know the meaning of the word smart, either.

(everyone laughing)

Zoe: Jim is what every valley girl dreams of, for sure.

Everyone: For sure.

Oscar the Grouch: Jim stands for everything that is wholesome and pure.

Everyone: Pure.

Telly Monster: Jim is the kind of guy who can sing in my key.

Everyone: Yeah.
Jim is whatever you want him to be.

Snuffy: That's it from London, Bird.

Grover: Yeah. Bye.

Snuffy: Bye.

Big Bird: Okay, well, um, let's see who's next. Walt Dizzy, our executive producer, and Frank Lloyd Left, our head designer, has an update for rather a Mupdate from the workshop in New York. Roll the next video.

Walt Dizzy, Frank Lloyd Left, Mr. Bricklayer, Ms. Carpenter, Salvador Dada, Frankie, Fran, Agnes, I.C. DeForrest, Murray Matisse, Sally Soho and Lance: Jim is our favorite model with his beard and face.
Jim is a fairly adequate boss, boss, boss, boss.
Jim is the kind of guy that can hold out his face.

The Geefle: This is just between us,
but he's planning Muppets on Venus.

Big Bird: Okay. Well, as you can see, everything is normal. Probably the same in Toronto as Fraggle Rock. Next videocassette.

Roosevelt Franklin: Jim is a super guy from his nose to tail.

Willy Muppet: No tail.

Suzetta Something: Jim is a super tanker from poop-deck to sail.

Willy Muppet: No sail.

Baby Breeze: Jim is a place you exercise athletically.

Everyone: Jim is whatever you want him to be.

Hard Head Henry Harris: Uh, just one question: What *is* a Jim Henson?

Big Bird: Uh, I wonder how things are coming along on Sesame Street? Let's see Sesame Street.

Joey Monkey: J is for the first letter in his name.

Davey Monkey: Jim starts with the letter J. A capital.

Don Music: I is the middle letter.

Sam the Robot: That's not right, gramatically.

Don Music: I am the middle letter?

Sam the Robot: That doesn't sound much better.

Don Music: Oh, I see, hmmmm....

Maurice Monster: M is the letter at the end.

Sir John Feelgood: M as in mother, a boy's best friend.

Everyone: Make the letters line up.
Then we'll put the sign up.
J-I-M, J-I-M, J-I-M, Jim!

The Big Bad Wolf: Ha! Jim Henson? He always treated me like... trash!

Big Bird: And I think it looks like that takes care of just about everything?

Prairie Dawn: Everybody?

Big Bird: Uh...

Prairie Dawn: Oh, ha, what about moi? Am I chopped liver for take?

Big Bird: Uh, well, listen, I'm sorry, Prairie Dawn. It must have been an oversight by an under sight.

Prairie Dawn: To err is human, to snub is death.

Big Bird: Oh, well, I'll tell you what. Let me call Manny. I'm sure our manager can straighten this whole thing out.

Prairie Dawn: Oh. Manny? You mean our agent? Well, he is probably very busy conservating a very big deal for moi at this very motion.

Big Bird: Conservate? As in soup?

Prairie Dawn: Well, somebody has better be cooking, that's all I gotta say.

Big Bird: Mmmmm....

Telephone Operator: Uh, Manny, there's a bird on the phone.

Manny: What bird? Oh, Big Bird. Hey, Big Bird, how are you doing, my man? So glad you called her. Yeah. Never too busy to talk to you. What an event, huh? Coming out of the woodwork for Jim. Just an expression, Big Bird. Oh, Big Bird, one other thing. Prairie Dawn's deal? Just between us, she lost the lead to "Vague Attraction". We couldn't put that in the tribute. Thanks, Big Bird, I'll talk to you soon. Take care.

Miss Piggy: Well, well, well, what did he say?

Big Bird: Uh, he said, he said wrap it up and get to the finale.

Miss Piggy: Oh.

Big Bird: Hit it, guys!

Everyone: Jim is so wise and witty,
because he likes my jokes.
Jim is the hippest dude that I know.
(Jim starts with the letter J. A capital)
Jim lives for dangerously than most other folks.
He was my companion,
skiing down the Grand Canyon.
Jim is what every valley girl dreams of, for sure.
Jim stands for everything that is wholesome and pure.
Jim is the kind of guy who can sing in my key.
Jim is whatever you want him to be.

The Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, the Muppet performers: Mr. Jerry, Richard, Little Jerry, Numberella, Ferlinghetti Donizetti and Kingston Livingston III.

Bert: Who are all these people?

Ernie: Well, I think they do things for Henson.

Bert: Well, if they do things for Henson, what does he do?

Ernie: Well, I understand he has his hand in half of a dozen things.

(Bert and Ernie laughing)

Bert: Another one of your old jokes?

Ernie: Old folks, old jokes.

(Bert and Ernie laughing)
