There are two methods of sharpening twist drills by hand. The most well known and most difficult method of sharpening drills is to follow the curves that are on the drill when it comes form the factory. A second method is to grind a series of flat faces onto the drill. This results in a drill that has less strength but also seams to require less force to feed into the material.
