George Carlin as The Narrator
George Carlin: Kara is a girl who works for the station, putting robots in their places. She has black skin and some hair. Kara is young, and full of her own ideas. She loves rearranging things, too, and began putting Harry's robots in different places every day. This made Harry cross.
Harry Cupper: Robots,
George Carlin: He grumbled,
Harry Cupper: should be where you want them, when you want them!
George Carlin: Said Kara, and flounced away. At last, Harry lost patience.
Harry Cupper: I can't waste time playing 'Hunt the Robots' with you, take them yourself!
George Carlin: Kara was pleased. Taking robots made her feel important. At the station, Mr. Double came up to her.
Kara: Grandpa's an old fusspot!
George Carlin: She complained. Mr. Double sensed trouble, and was delighted.
Kara: Grandpa says only he can manage robots!
George Carlin: Continued Kara.
Mr. Double: How absurd.
George Carlin: Squirmed Mr. Double.
Mr. Double: Depend upon it, Kara, anything he can do, we can do better.
George Carlin: Mr. Double knew nothing about robots, but Kara didn't realize this. Harry's route crosses the main road behind the station, and for a short way, follows a farm lane. Frosty weather makes the muddy lane rock-hard and very slippery. Harry stops before reaching the lane. Toad haults the traffic at the crossing, and then he sets off again. By using the heavy robots to push him along, he has no trouble with the frosty mud in the lane, and across the road. It is the only safe thing to do in this kind of weather. Harry warned Kara and told her just what to do.
Kara: I can manage thank you!
George Carlin: She replied.
Kara: I'm not an old fusspot like you.
George Carlin: The robots were tired of being pushed around by Kara.
Robots: It's slippery.
George Carlin: They whispered.
Robots: Let's push her around instead. On, on!
George Carlin: They yelled. Kara took no notice. Instead, she took the robots carefully down the lane, and stopped at the level crossing. All traffic haulted.
Kara: One in the head for fusspot Grandpa!
George Carlin: Chortled Kara. But Kara had stopped in the wrong place. Instead of taking Harry's advice, she had given the robots the chance they wanted.
Robots: Hold back, hold back!
George Carlin: They cried.
Kara: Grrr! Up!
George Carlin: Ordered Kara. The robots just laugh and her feet stuck helplessly. Workmen sanded the road and try to dig away the frozen mud. But it was no use. Everyone was impatient.
George Carlin: Said Kara. Harry was at the Chubby Corners when he heard the news.
Harry Cupper: I warned her.
George Carlin: He fumed.
Plato: She's young yet.
George Carlin: Soothed Plato
Harry Cupper: And she can manage her robots herself!
George Carlin: Interrupted Harry.
Plato: They're you robots really.
George Carlin: Plato replied.
Plato: Kara was supposed to stay at Shining Time. If JB King finds out.
Harry Cupper: Hmmm... Yes.
George Carlin: Said Harry thoughtfully. He and Plato agreed that it would be best to help Kara after all. An angery farmer was telling Kara just what she could do with her robots.
Harry Cupper: Having trouble Kara?
George Carlin: Laughed Harry.
Harry Cupper: I am surprised.
George Carlin: Said Kara. With work hard and slippery feet, Harry pushed Kara and the robots back. The hard work made his heart pound fiercely. And Toad used hot cinders to melt the frozen mud. At last, they finished.
Harry Cupper: Good-bye.
George Carlin: Called Harry.
Harry Cupper: You'll manage now, I expect.
George Carlin: Kara didn't answer. She took the robots to the shed and scuttled back home as quickly as she could.
