Sirius (also Alpha Canis Majoris or the "Dog Star") wass a star system consisting of binary companion stars, Sirius A and Sirius B, located about 8.6 light years from Sol. Sirius is home to three human colonies: Sirius III, Sirius V and Sirius IX.
