Narrator: "Winter was coming to Ponyville. The morning ground was covered in crisp white frost. Spike and Rarity were happily chuffing up and down the path. Spike was enjoying taking Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. He thought he was doing a grand job.

But Rarity had other ideas. She thought he could be doing an even grander job, so Rarity decided to help Spike by telling him what he was doing wrong.

When she saw him puffing down the branch path, she cried out."

Rarity: "Slow down! You're going too fast and bumping your passengers."

Narrator: "Later, Rarity saw Spike by a bridge. He had stopped to drink some water, and was talking to some children."

Rarity: "Stop talking to the children!"

Narrator: "Said Rarity."

Rarity: "You are working, and they will make you late."

Spike: "I'm never late."

Narrator: "Said Spike huffily."

Rarity: "There's always a first time."

Narrator: "Said Rarity cheerfully, and she puffed away. Spike was cross. He loved talking to children, and thought Rarity was being a big bossy hoof. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle agreed."

Spike: "I am never going to listen to Rarity ever, ever again."

Narrator: "Said Spike."

Spike: "So there!"

Narrator: "The next morning, a sleepy Spike had to leave Golden Oak Library bright and early. He was to collect some wagons from the quarry, and take them to the docks.

Later that morning, Hoity Toity arrived with a new weather report."

Hoity Toity: "There is snow on the way. You must all have your snowboots fitted."

Rarity: "Excuse me, sir."

Narrator: "Said Rarity."

Rarity: "But Spike has already left for the quarry."

Hoity Toity: "Then you must find Spike, and tell him Hoity Toity wants him to wear his snowboots."

Narrator: "So Rarity puffed away to get her snowboots on.

The workmen fixed Rarity's snowboots on in no time at all, and she set off to find Spike. Rarity was very happy. She was looking forward to telling him what to do.

Spike was drinking some water at Sugar Cube Corner. Rarity puffed up in front of him. She blew her whistle, but Spike didn't say hello."

Spike: "She just wants to boss me again."

Narrator: "Grouched Spike."

Rarity: "Spike!"

Narrator: "She called."

Rarity: "You must go and get your snowboots fitted."

Narrator: "Spike could hear what Rarity was saying, but pretended he couldn't. He thought he was being very clever. So Rarity shouted even louder again."

Rarity: "You must go and get your snowboots fitted!"

Narrator: "She cried."

Spike: "Bother snowboots!"

Narrator: "Said Spike."

Spike: "And bother Rarity! Anyway, the weather is perfectly fine."

Narrator: "And he puffed away as fast as he could."

Rarity: "Oh, Spike!"

Narrator: "Spike delivered the wagons to the quarry. Then set off to collect cream from the dairy. Everything was going well.

But soon the clear blue sky was eaten away by dark gray clouds."

Spike's Driver: "They look like snow clouds to me."

Narrator: "Said his driver. And he was right. Soon, big flakes of white snow began to fall. Then the snow gathered into drifts and covered the path."

Spike: "Fire and scales!"

Narrator: "Cried Spike, as his feet began to slip.

Snow fell all over the town. Rarity cut safely through the drifts with her snowboots."

Rarity: "Spike will be in trouble now."

Narrator: "Rarity was right. Spike was working harder and harder, but he had to go more and more slowly."

Spike's Driver: "We can't go on."

Narrator: "Said his driver. Spike pulled to a slow, sad stop by a signal box. And his driver went for help.

It snowed and snowed. Spike felt very cold and twice as miserable.

Then he heard the sound of a unicorn. Spike was delighted, until he saw who his rescuer was. It was Rarity."

Rarity: "I told you to get your snowboots! Now look what's happened."

Narrator: "Spike was still cross."

Spike: "You should say sorry for bossing me about!"

Rarity: "I am sorry!"

Narrator: "Said Rarity."

Rarity: "Sorry you didn't listen to me!"

Narrator: "Rarity and Spike chuffed into Golden Oak Library. Hoity Toity was waiting. He did not look happy."

Hoity Toity: "Rarity, you must take Spike to get his snowboots on at once."

Narrator: "Said Hoity Toity sternly."

Hoity Toity: "Spike, you must learn to listen."

Narrator: "Spike felt bad. He didn't know it was Hoity Toity who wanted him to wear his snowboots. Rarity felt bad, too. She didn't like seeing Spike in trouble."

Rarity: "I'm sorry, sir."

Narrator: "She said."

Rarity: "I forgot to tell Spike it was your idea."

Hoity Toity: "You mean I have two animals that don't listen?"

Narrator: "Boomed Hoity Toity."

Hoity Toity: "Well, I never! Rarity, you must take Spike to get his snowboots on at once."

Narrator: "Soon the work was finished, and Spike was wearing his snowboots."

Spike: "Thank you for owning up."

Narrator: "Said Spike."

Spike: "You are a very good friend."

Rarity: "That's all right."

Narrator: "Said Rarity."

Rarity: "You are a good friend, too. But next time, if you want to stay out of trouble, just do what I say."

Narrator: "Even Spike had to laugh."
