Narrator: "It was a glorious day in Ponyville. Villagers, children, even Sir Topham Hatt was excited. The circus was coming.

The animals were thrilled. They loved the circus, too. Pipsqueak loved the horses. Cranky loved the clowns. Children gathered on the bridges. They were waiting to see the circus pass by. Spike became more and more excited. Everyone wanted to collect the circus from Ponyville Docks.

Hoity Toity came to Golden Oak Library. He had exciting news for Spike."

Hoity Toity: "Spike, you are to collect the circus."

Narrator: "He boomed. Spike was very happy. Pulling the circus sounded like wonderful fun."

Hoity Toity: "But if there are too many wagons for you to pull,"

Narrator: "Added Hoity Toity."

Hoity Toity: "You must share the work with another animal."

Narrator: "Pipsqueak and Cranky were pleased. Maybe they'd get to help with the circus after all.

Spike puffed over to Ponyville Docks.

Spike walked into the docks. Gustave was unloading the circus. Spike was amazed. There were trailers and horse boxes, colorful costumes, wagons and flatbeds as far as the eye could see. Spike was so excited, his feet tingled. The acrobats and clowns gathered round Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle.

Spike buffered up to collect the fillies."

Cheese Sandwich: "Do you want a hoof there, matey?"

Narrator: "Said Cheese Sandwich cheerfully. Spike remembered what Hoity Toity had said about sharing the work. But the band started playing, and everybody was cheering. Spike thought this was the most wonderful special delivery ever. Even though the line was very heavy, he didn't want to share it."

Spike: "No, thank you, Cheese Sandwich."

Narrator: "He gasped."

Spike: "I can do it on my own."

Narrator: "And Spike took the biggest puff he could, and slowly pulled away.

Spike trundled through the countryside. His legs pumped, and his ankles rattled. But Spike didn't notice. He was having far too much fun.

Spike puffed toward the park. He had a wonderful surprise. Passengers and staff waved and cheered as he passed by. The band played on, and Spike whistled in time with the trumpet. Spike felt very special. Pulling the circus was lots of fun.

Spike stopped by a bridge. Pipsqueak was waiting there too. Children waved to Spike and the circus. Spike whistled. Pipsqueak wanted to join in."

Pipsqueak: "Is there anything I can take?"

Narrator: "Asked Pipsqueak hopefully. But Spike wanted to keep all the fun to himself."

Spike: "No, thank you."

Narrator: "He gasped."

Spike: "I can do it all on my own."

Narrator: "Pipsqueak watched Spike and the circus slowly chuff away. He felt very disappointed.

Spike puffed on. The load started to feel heavier and heavier. His ankles were rattling more than ever.

Spike stopped at a junction. Cranky was waiting in a siding. Cranky thought the band sounded very jolly."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "If you want to unhook some wagons,"

Narrator: "He said hopefully."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "I could take them for you."

Spike: "No, thank you."

Narrator: "Gasped Spike."

Spike: "I can do it all on my own."

Narrator: "He didn't want to miss out on any of the fun.

Spike walked on, but every huff and every chuff got harder and harder. Spike passed through the next station, but he was almost out of breath. Spike wasn't having fun anymore.

Then there was trouble. With a horrible sound, Spike's ankle got twisted. Spike stopped with a jolt.

Suddenly, it was very quiet. Spike felt very sad. Spike's driver telephoned for help. Even the performers practicing in the field didn't make Spike feel better. Spike wished he had shared the heavy load.

Soon, Pipsqueak and Cranky arrived. Cranky brought some bandages, and Pipsqueak brought hay for the horses. But Spike still felt miserable."

Spike: "I wish I'd shared the work with you."

Narrator: "He said sadly."

Pipsqueak: "Don't worry."

Narrator: "Puffed Pipsqueak."

Cranky Doodle Donkey: "We can all have fun now."

Narrator: "Said Cranky cheerfully. And he was right. While Spike's ankle was bangaged, they all enjoyed watching the circus performers practice.

Then Spike shared the wagons. Pipsqueak took the horses. Cranky took the performers. Then the band started playing."

Spike: "This is fun!"

Narrator: "Puffed Spike. All three animals cheered, and the long and jolly line set off.

Later, the friends watched as the big tent was put up."

Spike: "Thank you for helping me."

Narrator: "Puffed Spike."

Spike: "Sharing your work makes things much easier, but sharing the fun is the best fun of all."

Narrator: "And everyone agreed."
