Narrator: "It was a bright crisp winter's day in Ponyville. All the animals were hard at work carrying passengers and freight. Spike was very excited. He had a special job to do. The toy shop was to have a grand opening for the Christmas holiday season. The workers at the toy factory had worked hard to make lots and lots of toys in time for the grand opening. Spike's job was to take toys from the factory to the toy shop. It was hard work, but Spike was enjoying it. He felt really useful doing something so important. And he was looking forward to seeing the children's happy faces.

On the day of the grand opening, Hoity Toity came to Golden Oak Library."

Hoity Toity: "A new machine for the toy factory has arrived."

Narrator: "He said."

Hoity Toity: "Filthy Rich, I want you to pick it up from Ponyville Docks, and take it to the factory as soon as possible. And while you are there,"

Narrator: "He added."

Hoity Toity: "You can take the last load of toys from the factory to the toy shop."

Narrator: "Spike was disappointed. He thought that was his job. Maybe he could pick the children up at the school, and take them to the grand opening. But Hoity Toity gave that job to Rarity."

Hoity Toity: "You ought to do other jobs today."

Narrator: "He told Spike. Spike hurried off to start his new jobs. But he was very sad not to be helping with the grand opening.

The signal at the next station was red, and Spike stopped. The stationmaster was waiting for him with a message. It was from Hoity Toity."

Stationmaster: "Rarity has been injured."

Narrator: "Said the stationmaster."

Stationmaster: "You must get all your jobs done as quickly as possible. Then you are to collect the children after school, and take them to the toy shop."

Narrator: "Spike was sad for Rarity, but excited to take the children. He puffed away quickly. There was a lot to do. Spike was happy to be helping with the grand opening after all. He almost burst his body as he puffed around the town.

At last, Spike finished his jobs. He picked up Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle and steamed off to collect the children.

Spike puffed through the docks. He was surprised to see Filthy Rich was still there. Then Spike saw that Filthy Rich was trapped by a large crate."

Spike: "What happened, Gustave?"

Narrator: "Asked Spike."

Gustave: "That crate slipped out of my claws!"

Narrator: "Snapped Gustave crankily. Spike was worried. Filthy Rich still had to collect the last load of toys from the factory for the toy shop."

Spike: "What if the toys arrive late for the toy shop?"

Narrator: "Wheeshed Spike."

Spike: "The children will be disappointed."

Filthy Rich: "I'll go as soon as the path's cleared."

Narrator: "Huffed Filthy Rich."

Spike: "I know."

Narrator: "Puffed Spike excitedly."

Spike: "I can collect the toys from the factory. Then I'll pick up the children."

Filthy Rich: "You won't be able to pull all the wagons of toys as well as Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle."

Narrator: "Said Filthy Rich."

Spike: "Don't worry."

Narrator: "Spike whistled."

Spike: "I can do it."

Narrator: "And he puffed quickly away.

There was very little time left before the grand opening."

Spike: "Gotta hurry, gotta hurry."

Narrator: "Puffed Spike."

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle: "Doing our best, doing our best."

Narrator: "Chanted Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle.

At last, Spike reached the toy factory. He was coupled up to a long line of wagons, and he set off to the toy shop. Spike had been working hard all day and he wasn't used to pulling such a heavy load."

Spike: "It's very hard work."

Narrator: "He puffed."

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle: "You can do it, you can do it."

Narrator: "Sang Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle.

Soon, Spike was heading up Big Macintosh's Hill."

Spike: "Must get to the top, must get to the top."

Narrator: "He huffed. But he went slower, and slower, and slower until eventually he stopped all together."

Spike: "I have to go on."

Narrator: "Wheeshed Spike. But he wasn't strong enough. The line started to pull Spike back down the hill. He applied his brakes, but it didn't help. He slid all the way to the bottom. Spike was very upset."

Spike: "I've let everyone down."

Narrator: "He puffed sadly."

Spike: "Especially the children."

Narrator: "Just then, he heard another animal coming. It was Filthy Rich. The workmen had cleared the path at the docks."

Filthy Rich: "What's the matter, Spike?"

Narrator: "Filthy Rich asked. Spike told him."

Spike: "You are right, Filthy Rich."

Narrator: "He said unhappily."

Spike: "This load was too heavy for me. I should've listened to you, and now I know I need your help."

Filthy Rich: "What can I do?"

Narrator: "Chuffed Filthy Rich."

Spike: "You take the wagons to the toy shop."

Narrator: "Whistled Spike."

Spike: "And I'll pick up the children. But we must hurry."

Narrator: "Filthy Rich chuffed as fast as he could to the toy shop. Spike puffed around the town as fast as he could. The children cheered when they saw him coming."

Spike: "You won't be late."

Narrator: "He whistled as he steamed from station to station.

And they weren't. Spike arrived just in time for the grand opening. It was a magical sight. There were colored lights, balloons and lots and lots of toys. Hoity Toity declared the toy shop open for the Christmas holiday season. Everybody cheered. Spike was so pleased to see the children's happy faces."

Spike: "You were right, Filthy Rich."

Narrator: "Spike said."

Spike: "In future, I should leave pulling the heavy loads to you."
