Stephen's Big Rounds is an upcoming episode.
Stephen wishes to be really useful like Thomas, who is doing a passenger run to Bluff's Cove today.
As Stephen wanders around the island, he wonders what work he can do to be really useful. He sees the other engines working hard but can't find a really useful job to help with. Stephen is stopped at the Signal Box, where the Signalman tells him that Norman has broken down and needs to deliver his cargo of bricks to the schoolhouse. The children can't go to school until after the bricks are delivered to fix one of the walls. Stephen says he is glad to help and rushes off to find Norman. After Stephen brings Norman to the Dieselworks, Norman thanks him for bringing him there and volunteering to deliver his cargo for him. All the same, Norman is unsure if Stephen can deliver it on his own, and tells him to ask for help if he needs it. Stephen tells Norman that he's sure he can deliver the cargo on his own, and heads off to the schoolhouse to deliver his cargo.
On his way to the schoolhouse, Stephen notices Toby pulling a train of apples. He asks Toby where he's going with the apples. Toby tells him that he's delivering the apples to the Sodor Bakery, so they can make their famous apple pies but he's running low on water. Stephen, who wants to be really useful, asks Toby if he can deliver his apples for him, as he only has one other stop; delivering Norman's bricks to the schoolhouse. Toby, who has another job to do after delivering the apples, agrees to let Stephen help him deliver them. All the same, Toby is unsure if Stephen can deliver both Norman's bricks to the schoolhouse and his apples to the Sodor Bakery on his own. He tells Stephen to ask for help if he needs it, and Stephen tells him he is sure he can deliver both Norman's bricks and his apples on his own.
With two loads of cargo at once, Stephen begins to get confused as to where he's supposed to deliver them. He starts thinking about delivering Norman's bricks to the Sodor Bakery and Toby's apples to the schoolhouse. He passes by Thomas, who is still on his passenger run. Thomas sees Stephen with Norman's bricks and Toby's apples and tells him his passenger run is nearly complete. He asks Stephen if he can help him deliver them. Stephen is still confused as to where he is to deliver the cargo. He wants to ask Thomas for help, but at the same time, he wants to prove to Thomas that he can be really useful by tackling two jobs at once. Stephen tells Thomas that he doesn't need any help and that he can deliver both Norman's bricks and Toby's apples on his own.
Stephen continues to pull both Norman's bricks and Toby's apples, when he sees Scruff pulling a milk tanker. Stephen asks Scruff where he's going with the milk tanker, and Scruff tells him that he's on his way to the Ice Cream Factory. Stephen asks if he can take the Milk Tanker to the Ice Cream Factory for him, as he only has two other stops; delivering Norman's bricks to the Schoolhouse and Toby's apples to the Sodor Bakery. Scruff, who wants to move onto his next job; helping Whiff at Whiff's Waste Dump, agrees to let Stephen take the milk to the Ice Cream Factory for him. Just like Norman and Toby, he is not sure if Stephen can deliver all his cargo alone, and tells him to ask for help if he needs it. Stephen tells Scruff that he doesn't need any help and can deliver Norman's Bricks, Toby's apples, and Scruff's milk all on his own.
Stephen becomes even more confused as to where he has to deliver his cargo. When he makes his first stop at the schoolhouse, he tells the teacher to unload the milk. The milk tanker is then uncoupled from his train. He then sets off for the Ice Cream Factory.
At the Ice Cream Factory, Stephen tells Ice Cream Factory Workers to unload the Apples. The Apple car is then uncoupled from his train and he sets off for his final destination of the day; the Sodor Bakery.
Stephen arrives at the Sodor Bakery and tells the manager to unload the bricks. The bricks are then uncoupled from his train and he sets off to Knapford Station to await his results.
At Knapford Station, Sir Topham Hatt is in his office, getting lots of phone calls. The teacher at wonders why a milk tanker is at the schoolhouse, the bakers wonder why they got a load of bricks, and the Ice Cream Factory manager wonders why he got a load of apples. Sir Topham Hatt tells them to all calm down, and he will care of the problem right away.
Stephen meets up with Thomas at Knapford Station as Sir Topham Hatt storms out of his office, looking very cross. He tells Thomas and Stephen that he wants to know why there is a load of milk at the schoolhouse, a load of bricks at the Sodor Bakery, and a load of apples at the Ice Cream Factory. Stephen tells Sir Topham Hatt that he wanted to be really useful, so he tried delivering Norman's bricks, Toby's apples, and Scruff's milk all on his own. Now, because of him, none of the destinations have their proper cargo. Toby, who has just finished his second job, rolls up next to Thomas at Knapford Station and overhears the situation. Stephen apologizes and tells Thomas and Toby that they, Scruff, and Norman were right; he should have asked for help if he needed it, and now he needs it more than ever. He asks them both if they would like to help him. They both agree to help him, and Sir Topham Hatt tells all three of them to Hurry.
Toby delivers his apples from the Ice Cream Factory to the Sodor Bakery, Thomas delivers Scruff's milk from the Schoolhouse to the Ice Cream Factory, and Stephen deliver's Norman's bricks from the Sodor Bakery to the Schoolhouse. He then apologizes to the teacher, telling her he was only trying to be really useful by delivering three loads at once, and that from now on, whenever he needs help, he will ask for it.
At the end of the day, Thomas, Toby, and Stephen are all tired, but Sir Topham Hatt is proud of all three of them for getting their jobs done, and says they are all really useful engines.
