Narrator: "It was summertime in Ponyville. The animals were very busy. The children were having a big costume party, and there were lots of jobs to do. Pipsqueak collected the cakes and candies. Braeburn collected some sticky taffy to make taffy apples. And Spike took the tables and chairs.

When Spike delivered the tables and chairs, he saw some children. They were making costumes for the party."

Spike: "That looks like fun!"

Narrator: "Said Spike. Then Hoity Toity spoke to Spike."

Hoity Toity: "Spike, I would like you to give rides at the party."

Narrator: "Hoity Toity said."

Hoity Toity: "But first, you must go to the showers so you look your best."

Narrator: "Spike was delighted. He loved giving children rides. Spike puffed to the showers. He was thinking about the children and their costumes."

Spike: "I want to go to the party in costume too."

Narrator: "Said Spike."

Spike: "Then I would really look my best."

Narrator: "Spike was covered in soapy suds. He was scrubbed and rubbed, rubbed and scrubbed. Then Pipsqueak arrived at the showers."

Pipsqueak: "You look like a giant bubble."

Narrator: "Peeped Pipsqueak."

Spike: "That's it!"

Narrator: "Puffed Spike."

Spike: "I'll go to the party as a giant bubble."

Narrator: "So Spike puffed quickly away still covered in bubbles.

He couldn't wait to show the children his costume. Then, there was trouble. The bubbles blew into his eyes. Spike couldn't see where he was going, and he bumped straight into the back of Braeburn. Braeburn's hoof was broken."

Spike: "Sorry."

Narrator: "Puffed Spike. Soon Hoity Toity arrived."

Hoity Toity: "Braeburn, you must go to the hospital."

Narrator: "Said Hoity Toity."

Braeburn: "If I don't take the sticky taffy to the party, the children won't be able to make taffy apples."

Narrator: "Moaned Braeburn."

Spike: "Please, sir."

Narrator: "Puffed Spike."

Spike: "I could take the sticky taffy to the children."

Hoity Toity: "Very well."

Narrator: "Said Hoity Toity."

Hoity Toity: "But no more trying to be in costume."

Narrator: "Soon, all the soapy bubbles were cleaned off Spike. And he puffed away."

Spike: "I must get the sticky taffy to the children on time."

Narrator: "Spike puffed. But he started to think about the costumes again.

Spike puffed up to the airport. And there, on the runway, was Seabreezie."

Spike: "That's it!"

Narrator: "Chuffed Thomas."

Spike: "I would look grand if I arrive at the party as a breezie."

Narrator: "Spike watched Seabreezie fly up into the sky. He thought about his costume for the party. He thought about it for a very long time."

Spike: "Oh no! I've been daydreaming."

Narrator: "Chuffed Spike."

Spike: "And now I'm late!"

Narrator: "Spike puffed as fast as he could. But he wasn't watching where he was going. Spike didn't notice that the points had changed. Spike puffed into the siding and biffed into the buffers. Sticky taffy splattered everywhere!"

Spike: "Oh, no!"

Narrator: "Moaned Spike."

Spike: "I can't give the children rides when I'm this messy. If only I'd been thinking about what I was doing."

Narrator: "Then, Spike saw an old route. This gave him an idea."

Spike: "A shortcut!"

Narrator: "Puffed Spike."

Spike: "If I go that way, I can still get the taffy to the party on time."

Narrator: "Spike puffed along the old route. It hadn't been used for a very long time. Trees hung over the path. And the bushes were overgrown. But Spike puffed carefully on. He knew he was late. So now, he wasn't thinking about costumes. He was only thinking about getting to the party on time. Spike bumped through the bushes and bashed through the branches, but he was still covered in sticky taffy. Leaves and twigs stuck to the sweet sticky goo."

Spike: "Must get to the party, must get to the party."

Narrator: "Spike puffed.

When Spike arrived at the party, he was covered from head to toe in leaves and twigs. Everyone cheered when they saw him."

Spike: "I've brought you the taffy."

Narrator: "Spike puffed sadly."

Spike: "But I'm too messy to give you rides."

Narrator: "The children cheered."

Children: "You're not messy. Just in costume. You looked the best of all."

Narrator: "Spike was very happy.

The party was a great success. And there was only one thing more popular than the sticky taffy apples. And that was Sticky Taffy Spike."
