  • Michael Angelis: It was a special holiday in Bigg City Port. Puffa the Steam Engine was working harder than ever before. All the tugs were busy, too. Boomer was waiting for his next journey. Near him stood a viking ship, but he didn't look friendly like Puffa. The viking ship growled as he gazed at the happy passengers.
  • Snorri: Stupid nonsense!
  • Michael: He grumbled.
  • Snorri: I wouldn't have brought them if I'd known. I'd have had a breakdown or something.
  • Boomer: I'm glad you didn't.
  • Michael Angelis: Smiled Boomer.
  • Boomer: You'd have spoiled their fun.
  • Snorri: Bah. Enjoyment is all you tugs live for. One day, Bigg City will be ripped up!
  • Percy: Boomer felt shocked at such an idea.
  • Boomer: We have a friend called Puffa, and he's a Steam Engine, but he likes Bigg City Port. Sometimes he teases us about it, but he'd never want to see it ripped up.
  • Snorri: Heh.
  • Michael Angelis: Growled the viking ship.
  • Snorri: I know Puffa. He's too small in size to be of any use.
  • Michael Angelis: Boomer took no notice.
  • Boomer: That ship is silly.
  • Michael Angelis: He thought, as he steamed away. At the junction, Boomer told Grampus all about him.
  • Grampus: I call him Snorri!
  • Michael Angelis: Chuckled Grampus, and then he puffed happily away. But that afternoon, when the two friends met again, Grampus was no longer laughing.
  • Grampus: Snorri's friend has come.
  • Michael: He said.
  • Grampus: He's rude, too! He's taking Snorri's passengers home, and leaving Snorri free to steal ours.
  • Boomer: But he can't!
  • Michael Angelis: Objected Boomer.
  • Grampus: Snorri says he can get them to the station before us.
  • Boomer: Rubbish!
  • Michael Angelis: Replied Boomer.
  • Boomer: It's much farther by his route.
  • Grampus: Yes,
  • Michael Angelis: Continued Grampus.
  • Grampus: But Snorri says he knows a shortcut!
  • Michael Angelis: That evening, Boomer and Grampus were preparing for the homeward rush.
  • Boomer: Where are the passengers?
  • Michael Angelis: They wondered.
  • Grampus: Look!
  • Michael Angelis: Shrilled Grampus.
  • Grampus: Look at Snorri! He's a mean, viking deciever!
  • Michael Angelis: Snorri was wearing a large sign, saying, 'Bigg City Viking Ship'.
  • Snorri: Yeah, boo, snubs!
  • Michael Angelis: He jeered, as he roared away.
  • Boomer: Come on,
  • Michael Angelis: Puffed Boomer to his barges,
  • Boomer: Let's see what he's up to!
  • Michael Angelis: Boomer wanted to pay Snorri out, but he wasn't sure how. Then, in the distance, Boomer saw a man waving a red flag. That meant 'Danger'. The river here crosses a skinny canal, and there was Snorri, wedged firmly in the canal.
  • Boomer: So this was his shortcut!
  • Michael Angelis: Chucked Boomer.
  • Passengers: He tricked us!
  • Michael Angelis: Shouted Snorri's passengers.
  • Passengers: He said he was an Bigg City Viking Ship, but he wouldn't accept our return tickets! He wanted us to think Bigg City Port was no good!
  • Michael Angelis: Boomer's Crew examined the bridge.
  • Boomer's Crew: It's risky, but we must help the passengers.
  • Boomer: Passengers are urgent.
  • Michael Angelis: Agreed Boomer. Boomer slowly and carefully set off across the canal. Snorri wailed as he felt it quiver.
  • Snorri: Stop!
  • Michael Angelis: He shouted.
  • Snorri: It might brake me!
  • Boomer: That would serve you right for telling lies.
  • Michael Angelis: Said Boomer, but the canal didn't break. Boomer made good time, and all the passengers caught their rides. The canal is now mended, but not unfortunately, Snorri and his ways. He never learned sense. He's a henhouse now, and his lies can do no harm. The hens never listen to them, anyway.
