I've restored the 'from' version because...

• The evidence at the defect database website is incontrovertible
• Interpreting that evidence may be contentious; but the more grammatically correct 'seems to indicate' and 'indicates it likely' both acknowledge this contentiousness
• The correlation link usefully leads to a page that explains this para's contention
• The use of bold rather than italic fits better with the surrounding typography
