Technology in the universe of Fading Worlds and Civilization is often more advanced than that of "real world" Earth at the beginning of the 21st Century A.D. By the end of the 22nd Century A.D., 20-25 percent of all humans are produced by cloning, along with millions of chimeras (animal-human hybrids). The first human and chimera clones were produced in the first half of the 21st Century with genetic material from normal humans and animals, and the clones are typically grown rapidly in special tanks with special chemicals. Later, the genetic material for new clones is taken directly from older human and chinera clones. Chimeras are the same as those found in the universe of the Empire of the Solar Throne; see also animal-human hybrids in Empire of the Solar Throne. Clones spend their first year with the legal status of children though physically adults, and special learning techniques allow the clones to learn rapidly along with genetically-engineered brains with the capacity for quickly absorbing large volumes of knowledge in a short time.
The technology for spaceships, other vehicles, robots, computers, and artificial intelligence (A.I.) is similar to that of the universe of Void of Earth's Solar System; se also technology in VESS, races in VESS, and speed of space travel in VESS.
Weapons and force fields are also the same as in the universe of Void of Earth's Solar System, too.
Later in the history of the universe of Fading Worlds and Civilization, the use of time-dilation drives similar to that in the universe of the Empire of the Solar Throne (see Spaceships in Empire of the Solar Throne) and jumpgates using instant, faster-than-light teleportation are invented. Generally, only the largest spacecraft are capable of utlizing time-dilation drives.
